Nilambur Road - Train station in Nilambur - Malappuram, India

Nilambur Road railway station is located about 5 - 6 kilometres away from Nilambur town. Auto drivers do not travel by meter, so waiting for a bus is advisable. The station is the terminus station of the famous Shoranur Nilambur railway, one of the oldest sections of the Southern Railway, opened in 1927. It is also one of the most scenic routes and worth travelling during the day time. The station has been redeveloped, though it appears that a lot of trees had to be cut down. However, it is still one of the greenest stations I have seen. I was travelling this route after almost 40 years, and many things have changed, except the enchanting scenery. There are stalls selling tea, snacks etc.

I must say this is one of the most beautiful railway station in India. It's located in Nilgiri region of Kerala in Malappuram district. Trains are available for Shornur Junction and Thiruvananthapuram daily. Day journey is highly recommend in this railway route.

This is the last railway station in Shoranur To Nilambur road route. Pleasant Greenwood station yet smaller one. It is Pretty neat and clean station. One can enjoy the fresh air and natural scenery at the best.

Dead end of shornur to Nilambur road railway route. Very neat and clean station. Very pleasant and clam railway station. You can find some good refreshment area inside the station. Road is very near so you can easily find any bus or auto from there. Parking space is available.

Shornur Nilambur rail path. Some old movies have been shot here. This is one of the most beautiful railways in India. If we talk about its history, Nilambur teak is world famous then and now. Nilambur teak is an integral part of Rolls Royce, the world famous car manufacturer. So in 1800s, this beautiful railway was built by the British through the forest to take the teak from Nilambur to other places.
