The Jaipur city wall is the city wall encircling the old Jaipur city in Rajasthan state in India. It was built in 1727 when the city was founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II. The wall is six meters high and three meters thick. There are seven gates in the wall.The gates are: Chandpole, Suraj pole, Ajmeri gate,New gate, Sanganeri gate, Ghat gate, Samrat gate, Zorawar Singh Gate

This gate was not in original planning of Jaipur city. The initial plan had 9 plus 1 square blocks in three rows with Govind device temple and city palace in central block. The three roads dissecting the 4 sothern blocks or chaukaris opened towards southern side as ajmeri gate, sanganeri gate(shiv pole) and Ghat gate (Ram pole). New gate was constructed later on when Jaipur city extended beyond walled city. This gate is on southern side and faces Albert Hall on outer side and Chaura rasta and Tripolia gate on inner side. This gate too has one main large opening and two smaller ones on either side but lacks chataris or dome shaped pavillion atop that other gates of Jaipur have. It is said that prior to construction of this gate there was a small gate here outside which there were cages of tigers.

This is not one of the original seven planned gates of the walled city, it is a later added during the time of Maharaja Man Singh, so also known as the Man Gate. Though the design of this gate is similar to the others, the sidewalls could not be made due to lack of space.
