For those going to Matheran ....the toy train services are suspended from 10th June 2023 upto 15th Oct 2023....however you can get down at Neral take a sharing cab for Rs 100 upto Aman lodge and get into toy train

Neral is a Rail Station on Central Line after Shelu Rail Station in the South & before Bhivpuri Road Rail Station in the North. Neral is considered a Junction as it connects Matheran Route. Only 2 Trains for Matheran in the morning originate from Neral @ 8:50am & 10:25am. Ongoing Local Trains for Thane & CSMT in the South are available on Platform 2. Trains for Karjat & Khopoli in the North are available on Platform 1.
If Matheran is in your plan. This is where you will get down. Knowing the importance of this junction the railways or the local municipality have not done major work here. The entrance/exits are still the same during the British times, the streets are narrow and crowded. This junction has good footfalls during weekend holidays, vacations etc. This place needs beautification!
The only station which encompasses it's way to the Matheran. The station is relatively small and less crowded compared to metropolitan cities like Pune or Mumbai but has all the facilities and amneties of a hill station.
Neral Railway Station is a century old junction Station. It caters to regular trains and the narrow gauge. The Station is very clean and silent. The Neral-Matheran toytrain operates daily two trains both sides. In case of non availability of the toytrain, one can reach Dasturi .Naka in Matheran by taxi/auto Neral itself is a good town. It is popular among tourists. However ,the Municipal authorities should develop roads in Neral East.
Very nice station and tourist attractions... Unhappy to see that the toy train has been stopped now to Matheran...and missed the fun.. But overall good place..
