Neelamperoor Padayani was an amazing experience for me. The natives and the temple trust were tourist-friendly too
It is a ritual that must be seen at least once in a lifetime. Kolams are made entirely with natural resources such as Bamboos, Lotus leafs, Plantain parts etc
Visited for the first time, amazing views of the "annams "is one of the best attraction. There are more than 100 annams, divine atmosphere.
Great Experience . You will forget everything while immersing in the colours and ambience of the event . No public transport is available to return from the place at night - All other aspects are great
This is a 1500 plus year old Durga temple in Alappuzha district of Kerala, Here the deity is Durga and in addition to this Lords Ganapathi, Siva, Dharmasastha,Mahavishnu and Rakshas also having their place here. This temple is situated in peaceful and calm location where full of greenaries and paddy fieldsa its about 3.5 Kms west of Kurichy Out post in Kottayam-Changanacherry M.C.Road. The festivals of this temple is a ten day celebration in the solar month meenam with its nineth day on pooram and the pooram padayani which starts from the day next to Thiruvonam in Chingam ( the first solar month of the Keralite calendar ) and lasts till Pooram, which is celebrating as the birth day of the deity Vandurga. Pooram Padayani is a rare and unique ceremony which shows the ancient culture. Padayani is characterised by the display of peculiarly decorated idols ans sculptures of Swans, Bhima, Ravana, Yakshi, Elephant etc. These are offerings in gratitude by devotees for the fulfillment of their desires. Making of these effigies need craftsmanship, dedication as well as time. The important thing about the Padayani here is, this is conducting in midnight time stats with 10 o clock in the night.
