Narnala, also known as "Shahnur Fort", is a hill fortress in Maharashtra, India. Shahnoor fort built by the Sultan Mahmoud Gazhnavi. The road leading to the fort is in very bad condition. So its maintenance is going on. So check online before coming. And it would be better to come from the four wheeler.
Narnala Fort was built scientifically considering natural interference like rain winded. Narnala alias shahanur fort consists of three small forts namely Zafrabad. Narnala and Teliagarh. This is historically very famous fort which is very deep and with dense forest land situated on the hills of Satpuda i.e. at the hilly side of the Melghat. Nowaday's we can reach to fort by vehicle.
Good fort and wildlife sanctuary. The fort of Narnala was the entrance from north to the Deccan. It was the most glorious period of the region during the rule of Gond kings. You can visit it any time during the year, but visits after November are more fruitful, as one can find animals at the water tanks. The beauty of the fort can however be maintained on a higher level. More efforts are needed to promote tourism. Staying and safari can be booked on the spot. The forest department has guest house and restaurant at the entrance gate. The rates are also reasonable. Timing of the safari is 1) Entry time 5.30 - 6.30 am - returning time 11.00 am 2) entry time 14.00 - 16 hrs- returning time 18.00 hrs. 3) entry on Tuesdays are not allowed.please confirm before visit. No shops at the gate.carry necessary items along with you.
The name Narnala was given after the Rajput Ruler Narnal Sing . The fort was built in 10 A. D. by Gond King. In 15th century Mughals have occupied and rebuild the fort and hence it has been called Shahnoor Fort . Narnala consists of three small forts named Zafarabad fort on east , Narnala in centre and Teliagarh on the West . This fort is about 24 km from Akot . The height of fort is 3161 feet . The fort is spread about 382 Acres area .
This place is very nice and must visit for adventure seekers. Cheep jeep safari and lots of animals to watch specially tigers. Go in proper season like summers.

Nice historical place near akot, good for trekking but quite hard due to lack of equipment.this area is under melghat century, Amravati division.The no.of wild animals,birds,snakes, different types of trees seen in this area. After 7 pm ,this place is dangerous because wild life and forest.The guide were available here at the time of visit.
