Nakhind fort is situated in Vangani, Maharashtra. This fort is famous for its naturally formed gap by natural erosion which is called as 'Nedhe' in marathi or a 'Needle-hole'. The Fort stands approximately 2300 feet high. The base village to start the trek is Bedisgaon village which is in Thane District, Maharashtra. A broad trail goes up to Vaghachi wadi. There are slopes with green carpets in the valley and mesmerizing view on both sides of the fort. The top is narrow forested ridge, running in the north south direction. If the weather is clear, more than 27 forts can be seen from the top of the Nakhind fort. You can see Chanderi Fort, Mhaismal, Tahuli peak, and Shree Malanggad on one side and Peb Fort, Matheran, Irshalgad, Kalavantin Durg, and Prabalgad on the other side. The nearest railway station for the Nakhind trek is Vangani and from there, you can easily get an Auto for Bedisgaon. Expected time for climbing: 1.5 - 2 hours. Trek difficulty level: Medium
A very mind blowing view from top. I would rank it as medium level trek with a few tough spots to climb. I went during rainy times so it was slippery still safe. It takes around 3 hrs to climb to top. At base village, we can hire a local guide for 300-500 bucks. The view from nedhe is really good and specially the air flow in that place is damn good. Some of us started shivering at 1 in afternoon because of air-flows in Nedhe. "Nedhe" is a natural window in that stone.
Beautiful place surrounded with small water streams. Super place to spend some nice time.
Awesome, exciting, adventure place for trekking. If you are in group of more then 10 people then your trekking will be awesome. Top point of hill is very dangerous. Please keep below points in your mind before Nakhinda trekking : 1. There is no proper read or path for trekking, So it is some difficult for trekking. 2. If you are new then you can hire a guide from the village. Guide will be any of villagers. There is no professional guide. Villagers knows about the hills so you can reach on top with help of villagers. 3. Please wear good quality of shoes. Don't wear floaters. 4. You will not find any shops, restaurant. So please carry food items, water bottle in your bags. Even in village also you will not find any of the shops or restaurant. 5. Your adventurous moment will start, once you will reach on top of hill. Now once you reach on top then you will have to walk on ridge to reach the rock. It will be most adventurous moment of your trekking. 6. You can see awesome view of Chanderi fort from top of Nakhinda hills. 7. Mansoon season is very good for this place trekking. But path will be very slippery due to rain in mansoon season. It's awesome place, if you are fond of trekking then definitely you should go here for trekking.
Nakhind is one of the trail in the matheran ranges based near 'Waghini chi wadi' and base village is 'Bedis Gaon' situated at Vangani, Maharashtra from where the trail starts. We travelled with car directly at Bedis Gaon and started our trail towards Nakhind. With 45 minutes of trail we reached at the plateau that is Waghini chi Wadi, we order food (Rice Roti And Egg curry) for lunch on return journey as we were carrying fruits and some electrolytic water only. We took local children with us as guide too, for not to divert from the main route and waste our time. So, after an hour of jungle trail we reached on the ridge of the mountain. And then we walked another 20 minutes through ridge and reached at the base of Nakhind. You can find one giant weathered hole in the rock here at the base of Nakhind. One should be clever about hiking after this to reach upto the top. It's little bit tricky and at one point a small rock patch is there. Trail is complete once you get to the top. You could see great views of Chanderi fort, Navra-Navri, Mhaismaal, MalangaGad, Vikatgad(Peb), Prabalgad-Kalavatin and even Irshalgad if surroundings are clear from the top. In total we spent around 6 hours on this hike from start to end at the Bedis Gaon being beginner level trekkers. Overall Trek is easy but mediums level of endurance needed as altitude changes with every step while hiking.
Moderate level trek leads you to beautiful views of Matheran range..... Difficulty level- Medium (Not for beginners) Trek duration - 3 hrs min. for regular trekker. You can easily come to the base village from Vangani railway station.
Best trekking place around Badlapur. One can reach Bedisgaon and start trek. Can take help from local villagers if don't know the way. Must keep 2-3 ltr water during this trek. You can see Chanderi fort, Mhaismal, Peb fort, Malangad, Prabalgad, Kalavantin durg and Matheran from Nakhind. If weather is clear even you can see Bhimashankar range.
Route is not defined, so tag along with a local. Very short hike, but pretty thrilling in the dense forest.. we managed to witness water stream and a gorgeous waterfall..
Vikatgad Fort, near Mumbai, provides a moderately difficult walk with beautiful views. The hike begins with a scenic path through lush flora that gradually intensifies as you ascend. With its stone structures, the fort itself, however in partial ruin
It is a hidden spot. It is best to visit during the rainy season as the view is breathtaking. I would suggest wearing raincoats and sports shoes. Do carry snacks and water along. The place is really beautiful, full of greenery. Therefore, don't litte
