This huge area of forested hills and valleys is adjacent to the heritage town of Amber. Most of the forest has a national designation as a Wildlife Sanctuary rightfully so, as it is home to a very wide variety of wildlife. The apex nammal is the leopard which co-exists with nilgai (blue bull), hyena, porcupine, mongoose, civet cat along with numerous birds and reptiles. The sanctuary contains the Nahagarh Biological Park or Zoo, a lion enclosure, and the disused large cat sanctuary. It is also a historic area, probably the hunting grounds of the royals of Amber. It contains several heritage structures, including the battlement walls of Amber, temples, hunting lodges, water bodies, and stepwells.
If you want to peace in crowded city like jaipur, than cone here & enjoy nature
Before Jaipur was made the capital of Rajasthan, the majestic city of Amer stood tall as the capital of the Rajput. The city was bustling with activity and markets in the 1600s. Nahargarh fort along with Amer Fort and Jaigharh Fort had formed the defense to the then capital. Nahargarh is located along the Aravalli hills overlooking a beautiful lake. There is a food court and a restaurant at the top of the fort with an excellent view, Padao. The fort now also is home to the Jaipur wax museum and glass palace. History of Nahargarh Fort Nahargarh mean 'abode of tigers'. Legend says that the fort was named as Nahargarh after the spirt of a Rathore, Nahar Singh. When the construction of the fort started strange phenomenon occurred. Every morning the workers would find the previous day's work destroyed. This is when the then Maharaja, Jai Singh discovered the land was haunted. They constructed a shrine in which the spirit could reside and named the fort Nahargarh. How to Reach Nahargarh Fort Nahargarh Fort is located around 6 KM outside the city of Jaipur. The best way to reach the destination is to hire a cab. Even autos go till the fort entrance. There are shuttles also available from the foot of the hill.
Best place to visit in jaipur, situated on delhi by pass near kookas. Surrounded by hills all around. Feel the nature here. Lovely weather here in rainy season and winters. Large hilly area covered, amazing scenery all around. Must visit place of jaipur.
A reserve forest area. But some places are opened for tourist like Nahargrah biological park. Bhuteshwar mahadev temple is also in this area which is around 400-500 yrs old.
