Must visit for safari. Had an amazing time. We saw plenty of spotted deers, sambar deers, monkeys, Malabar squirrels, spotted two tigers on the hunt as well, some wild elephants, turtles, birds as wells. The experience was surreal. The guide and the driver were really great with the spots and their knowledge about the animals too. Had to book the safari in online in advance, luckily booked it on time coz later they'd closed the same.
As it was raining...we couldn't spot much ...yet got the sighting of a huge Elephant herd on the road and many deer ...couldn't get safari tickets...even online mode was down most of the time .
It is the checkpost of nagarhole forest reserve. The officers are kind, there is no fees but tips can be given. There are washrooms at this place. They guide us to reach the other end in an hour. The roads are decent. Don't litter the place/feed the animals, don't stop the car/get out of the car. Reach the other end of the forest within 55-70mins.
Safari ride we can go with our own vehicle & Road condition is somewhat difficult... Each car 20 rupees we have to pay & get the entry token & we need to exit the other end of the forest within 1 hour , otherwise 1000 rupees fine they will charge... While ride we can see plenty of Dears
This was the longest Safari I have experienced so far.The forest is widely spread across large amount of land.It is the adjacent forest to Bandipur and is famous for Tiger sighting. We took the jeep through Jungle Inn as we put up there .The drivers were extremely responsible to show us around every corner of the forest and we were fortunate enough to get the sight of elephants, deers and sambars, gaurs and uniquely beautiful birds. We also waited patiently to spot tigers but I guess it wasnt our day.It took us almost 3.5 hours to complete the whole forest. I would suggest this place for a weekend trip. Peaceful evening spent amidst the beauty of nature and fauna.
The amazing drive through the forest, although wild animals are not easily seen. *There is no ticket and all.. but at the entry check-post they will provide a time stamp that contains your vehicle details and number of people in the vehicle for the security reason. This time stamp should be returned at the exit check-post within the time limit. If not reached exit check-post in time minimum fine of Rs1000 and maximum depends on the officers will be charged. Nicely maintained by government. There are open safaris available into the deep wild forest where tigers, leopards, elephants, deer, bears, etc can be seen.
This road is accessible to public, try not to disturb the animals and do not litter around in the place. We've seen people honk around and been attacked by a wild gaur, maintain silence and drive out safely without stopping by. Just enjoy the serenity of the forest.
