In comparison to Thailand, the elephants are not chained. They seem healthy and it's taken care of them. What's sad and don't understandable is the option of painting on them. One thing is that bussines owner offers it, but some tourists really pay for it. CRAZY. Even though color seems non harmful, it's a degradation of living animal. Offering only washing/bathing the elephant is understandable. The price of ride is acceptable and we were taken care of. The owner speaks fluent English. It's 100% better then see elephant hard working in forest for his owner.
Fun experience at this mini elephant preserve. I don't know how you would find this place if you didn't have a tuk tuk driver who knew his way around. It's a once in a lifetime experience.
C'etait vraiment bien, l'equipe est tres gentille et aux petits soins pour nous. Nous avons pu peindre les elephants sur leur estomac avec des peintures naturelles, et les caresser et faire des calins avec eux sans souci. Un endroit a faire absolument ! Le staff est tres sympa !
IT'S NOT A SANCTUARY. We were told there were 11 elephants, and that we would be taken on a safari. We were completely mis-sold - we ended up seeing just one elephant, and they took us for a short ride that we were not intending to do. This is animal cruelty. Even the carer of the elephant (with little to no english) understood we were not happy, agreed to cut short the walk, and apologised for the situation. He also told us he devotes his life to care for Nena the elephant - it was nice to at least know that. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE, it's just a business using elephants for a short ride or picture in an unnatural space.
I had a very nice time. it was great to have some time with the elephants. the place is a very beautiful and natural. And they working staff very kind and helpful we are doing activity s with elephant I'm so happy going there help them good experience. Highly recommended.
Une belle escale :) peut-etre cher (sans compter les fameux pourboires) mais il faut bien financer l'entretien des elephants. Les 2 elephants semblaient bien traites. Beaucoup mieux que l'elephant village a mon avis.
