It's a wonderful place to relax and be at peace. From the top of the hill, you get a wonderful view. Mornings and evenings are particularly good times to use it.
Muttara Maruthimala A 24 acres hilly rock, located in Veliyam grama panchayat, Maruthimala bestows one with a pleasant atmosphere with its scenic beauty and cool gentle breeze. One can also see a shrine up there along with a small pond. The temple celebrates festivals during the months of December and January. Legend says that this hillock was formed from a portion that had fallen from the hands of Lord Maruthi (legendary figure from the epic Ramayan) while he carried the sacred mountain Rishabhadri to Lanka. Nice place to relax yourself. The place is calm. Better come in morning or at evening after 4pm. No entry tickets. There are huge steps to climb, not recommended for old aged people. Road towards the hills are not maintained, better come in 2 wheelers or 4wd vehicles.
Nice place to visit in kollam district, morning or evening is best time to visit. There is no rush , peaceful environment. Please don't throw plastic, be a responsible traveller
Its a good place to go and chill with family and friends. But the place is not maintained properly. You could see the path to reach the rock and surroundings covered with grown grass.
I liked this place. Family traveles may not enjoy this location. But for friends and trekking groups, Muttara hills is superb. Sunset and sunrise times are of a great vibe
