Muthodi Range Forest Office - Forestry service in Bagamane - Chikkamagaluru, India

First things first do not go by the address in Google and the contact number mentioned, it is bogus and misleading. Some mobile number of a person whom they claim is the in charge, not true. The real game zone (Governments) is at Muthodi Range Forest (Try google maps) and the name of the sanctuary is Bhadra Wild life Sanctuary. Use Muthodi range forest as the destination and you will reach there. The forest office has 2 Game Jeeps that can seat about 10 persons per Jeep. The tour is about 60 minutes and the charge per head is Rs400. The tour timings is from 8 to 11am and 4 to 6pm only. The first and the last slot will help you see a lot of animals We saw a pack of Bison, lots of dear both barking and spotted. The best part was a single Elephant, the tusker started chasing after a moments pause, that was fantastic!! The officials have dug artificial ponds along the road side, they have been filling it with water and salt. One gets to see the animals come there for a drink and it is right on the road side. The tour guide was excellent, He is also a forest official who knows a lot about this range. The road to the park itself is tricky, the road is good but narrow mountain road which needs skilled drivers. You should hire a cab if you are not familiar with such mountain roads.

It's a protected area under bhadra forest range. Popularly known as muthodi forest, it's famous for its safari. The safari will cost you around 400 per person. The safari is said to be a tiger safari but chances of finding one is equal to finding an electron in the nucleus of am atom( that was for science kids) So kindly do not have high expectations. Nevertheless the scenic beauty of mesmerizing and take you to another world. Best visiting time - monsoon and post monsoon.

We actually had been to safari, fortunately i would say it was closed as we had crossed the timings. And from there the forest officer had asked our can driver to take is to a waterfall (Ukkadu waterfall) inside the forest. Believe me it's the best adventurous trip ai had ever been to. As even cab driver (local person) wasn't aware that there is a waterfall inside. You get to see leaches around sucking ur blood so be prepared and wear shoes instead normal ones. But this is a must see place in chikmangaluru. I had been to the end but could not see the waterfall instead just enjoy the sound as it was very dangerous or fritening for me to climb the slippery rocks. But next time I would be there right infront of the waterfall...

Special attraction is the safari here..price is Rs 450 per head for an hour.

This is where the jeep safaris begin. Even though we did not get tiger sightings, the driver made huge efforts to drive us around the bast property. There is a simple canteen which serves Maggi and eggs and tea at the starting point.

NOTE : for the actual forest range you have to travel 15km more from this point. As most of the reviews say,you hardly get to see animals. Chances of spotting are next to impossible. Deers, peacock and bison is all that you get to see. But if you want to go for a drive into the forest, do check out this place.
