It is a project of the Archdiocese of Goa and was set up with technical and financial assistance from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Portugal and the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), New Delhi. Earlier, it was located at the Seminary of Rachol, Salcete, Goa. The museum which was initially set up to display these unique works of art, evolved over the years into a space focused on creating awareness on conservation and restoration of art and architecture through various activities and collaborations. Noteworthy among these are the restoration of the 17th. century, State protected monument, The Church of Santa Monica and conservation of the museum's collection.

Beautiful place to spend 45 minutes here without wait. Visited on weekends on New year no crowd only 2 to 4 people's are there you can spend very calmly around 1 hour in the museum, cafe area is available at the gate. There is electronic and normal wheel-chair is available inside the premises, place is very quiet and cool. I recommend visit atleast once near to St. Augustine tower. Entry ticket is 100 INR per person . Photography is not banned if you are taken pics of articals with you can't take pics of yourself and your friend in that place.

This is absolutely beautiful and well maintained museum. I believe the church attached to the museum is about 400 years old. Stunning architecture. The museum is so well planned and maintained - it is world class. The staff was also very helpful. How I wish all the museums and heritage structures in India are as well maintained as this one. Must visit while you are in Goa

The museum is located just behind Santa Monica Convent. The fee can be reduced by telling you are a student. There were absolutely no Indian tourists inside. Everything related to Christianity are kept inside. There are several holy silver and gold objects and textile as well. It is very peaceful inside. There are several ivory objects and sculptures as well. I enjoyed it very much being the student of a Catholic school myself.

This museum is unlike any other I have seen. It's not too big and it's right next to a preserved church as well, but if art/history are things you like... This is a mini delightful place to visit, approximately spending about an hour here. They also have a souvenir shop alongside the museum.

We took the walking tour of the Holy Hill conducted by MoCA. I have to say it was a really awesome and highly informative experience. There are so many tiny unknown gems of historic and symbolic significance that we are unaware of. Our tour guides Noah and Fraiser were a treasure trove of these hidden facts and are happy to engage and share their knowledge. Their dedication and insights with regard to architecture as well as history is outstanding. This isn't a regular 'guided tour'. It is very interactive and also a fun experience, not straight laced and sombre. The walk lasts about 3 hours (average) and covers the main monuments of the oldest church OUR LADY OF ROSARY, THE ROYAL CHAPEL OF ST ANTHONY, RUINS OF ST AUGUSTINE, CHURCH OF ST MONICA and the MUSEUM of CHRISTIAN ART There were so many surprises- A tree of life, a Jain influenced plaque, a fort like facade that's actually a church inside, a rain water harvesting system and so much more to discover. The museum has been very well designed, laid out and built. There are some fabulous artifacts, art works, stauary and lots more that is very well presented and displayed. One has to appreciate the conservation work that is a constant battle against the elements and (at times)uncivil visitors to the precincts. Both MoCA and ASI need to be lauded for this. Considering the nominal charge for the tour, we were treated to some exceptionally great light refreshments at the cafe. (You don't have to be on a tour to enjoy the Cafe!! ) All in all this is lovely and eye opening way to spend a morning. Oh yes, one more thing... our tour group were privileged to have Fraiser sing for us in the magnificent acoustics of the museum.
