Murshidabad District Museum - Jiaganj - History museum in Jiaganj, Jiaganj Azimganj - Murshidabad, India

Nice place to witness the beautiful ancient historical sculptures of Bengal. This museum is located at a distance of just 500 metres from Jiaganj Ghat. The museum is neat & clean and very well maintained. No entry fee is required to enter this museum. Overall it's a nice place. Liked it !!

District Museum of Murshidabad is located just 8 kms away from the Hazarduari Palace. The main attractions are rare statues of Shivshakti, Parashnath, Tara, Surya, Maheshwar, Vishnu, etc. It consists of different kinds of historic materials mostly from Pal-Sen dynasty. Digging many places of Lalbag, Ahiron, Sagardighi, Karnasuvarna, Baranagar, those materials were found. This museum was found by Raja Surendra Narayan. This is a wonderful historical place to visit...It is a museum basically filled with ancient historical sculpture of Pal and Sen era of ancient Indian History..

The entry fee is Rs.2 only. The new part of the museum, with many more collection, coming soon after Durgapuja 2017

This museum is stablished a few years ago. But due to negligence of state government, only 20/25 artifact are available to display.

This Museum is at present developed and maintained by Archeological Survey of India and adding more rooms for its huge collection of artifacts. Very interesting place for Kids , Students. This place can be reached by rail and road easily.

It is basically a local museum but I never goes inside of it because they don't allows you to get into. It but in case of interface it is looking like a official working staiton but if you request for it you will definitely allows to go inside.

Good museum at all. Old idols of God and Goddesses are there and kept very protectively. It is very old museum and the idols kept are also very old. Few months ago the museum was repainted as it is becoming more popular in the and besides area. The idols kept here are made of black stone, sand stone and many other stones. The idols were made by striking many sizes of chisels on the stone's body by hammer very artistically. The idols conveys one of the oldest and traditional art of murshidabad and as well as West bengal.
