Murraburu Hill - Tourist attraction in Matha - Purulia, India

The Murraburu hill is best known as "Pakhi Pahar" or Hill for birds. The name was established by Sir Chitta De who painter this hill surface as canvas and created beautiful designs of birds and animal (puruliatours.in/pakhi-pahar-in-purulia-tour/). Very nice landscape. There are some beautiful villages nearby like Digardi and Khudidi offer very natural panoramic views with flowers (Palash), jungle and green landscapes and particularly the very simple but happy lifestyle of the local people. This place is very quite and definitely make you feel very pleasant (far from city life and crowd). One can also stay in the home stay in Digardi and take a morning walk through the jungle and small hill. I have visited this place in winter. It was a very memorable trip.

About nature nothing to say, just get the vibes of the hill, but one thing want to mention that there is a 'jhup' running by the local rural women, 26 of the team size. Some of them are guide and others running the shop so please take one of the guide with you and paid them and have some tea, khalid Muri, omelet from them. It will be a great helping to them. Pakhi Pahar, locally known as Murraburu Hill has been a popular tourist spot of Purulia over the years. Artist Chitta Dey and his local team of artists have turned the lifeless rocks of the hills into a colorful canvas. He and his team have sculpted around 60 images of flying birds on those rock faces. However, the work is yet to be done and is still going on. Presently state government has extended an award of Rs.3 crore for his endeavor. The theme of the sculptures mainly consists of the uncommon creatures and those creatures which are gradually getting wiped out like Pangolin. The beautiful canvas on the backdrop of Murraburu Hill is there to view for the tourists and to get awestruck.

Very nice place. The whole area around the 'Pakhi pahar' is very beautifully decorated with red soils and long trees.The trees grow up here naturally. There are lots of birds all around the mountain. They can easily be seen on the trees. We saw many parrots. Their sounds were amazing. Mountain is simple nothing more special. One thing distinguishes this mountain from other mountains is that it has bird stamps nailed on it. Professionals from Kolkata nailed these on the mountain. The whole area around the mountain is very good for picnic.

I like the scenic beauty of the place (Pakhi Pahar). There is actually a hill on which you will notice pictures of flying birds are drawn by a single person (I apologies I don't remember the name of the person). You will find a variety of birds there.

This is popularly known as the Pakhi Pahar as one can see outlines of birds encrypted over the rocky walls of the mountain.

It's a very very beautiful place ... You must trek or climb the hill ... After reach the point you can experience the view of the beautiful valley ... Also you can see the undone and abandoned beautification work of the Pakhi Pahar
