Mudumalai Holiday Village Resort - Resort hotel in Chembakolli - The Nilgiris, India

Stayed there for a night before visiting a nearby elephant camp. The staff are very friendly. The place is very quiet, away from traffic & the safest place nearby mudumalai forest, suitable for family Things i suggest: * Bathroom tiles are slippery, better be careful * need a hanger for dress * sunlight water heater only, so cold water for night (but the water is not that cold like in ooty, so not a major issue for me) * hotels nearby ain't good, should travel 1 or 2 km for good food, i suggest Udupi hotel (found ourselves, after wandering Warning to my fellow travellers: Do never eat food on "SASTHAPURI HOTELS" like the other reviewer suggested, if you don't trust me, then go to that hotel washroom(non veg -underground), see what they wrote in the mirror, and decide.

This location is in madhumalai after crossing forest checkpoint ...This location is awesome we got 2bhk villa for 5k and food we paid extra...even food was amazing very good cook. I would recommend you to call prior and inform for food.

This is a pleasant place to live in and the staffs are so caring and good. Even the view is also very good with estate nearby. The manager in charge is also very kind person and very coordinating.

Very bad experience due to the manager who is completely unprofessional and tells lies very easily and for everything. Everything he told me is a lie. If you just need a place to stay and your schedule allows lots and lots of delays, you can book in this hotel. Professionalism: 0 / 5 Honesty: 0 / 5 (You can't trust anything) Service: 3 / 5 (unacceptable amount of delays despite multiple followups and runs to the manager's room) Rooms space: 5 / 5 Rooms cleanliness: 5 / 5 Pros: Rooms Locality Cons: Everything else Completely unprofessional Service with unacceptable delays even after multiple follow ups. No intercom, you need to run to the manager's room multiple times. Bcoz, things won't happen when you say over the call :( No racks or hangers in bed rooms to keep clothes. Before booking, I asked the manager if geyser is available inside room. He said yes. But, geysers are not available in room. When I reach the hotel, he told me that customer satisfaction is their top most priority. But, completely opposite. After I reach the hotel, I didn't find neither the geyser's nor the geyser switches in the bathrooms. He told that two geysers got fitted below the solar heater and they will only on/off the switches which are not inside the rooms. I informed the manager that we checkout at 5:30 am. He told me that gate will open at 6 am. So, I informed him that we will checkout at 6 am and asked him to turn on geysers by 5 am. He told me that they will turn on geysers every day at 5 am (lie). We woke up at 5 am to get ready and realised at 5:30 am that hot water was not coming. I called the manager. He woke up from sleep and told me that geysers were turned on at 5 am (lie). I waited for 15 to 20 min more and hot water was not coming. Then I went to the manager's room and rang the bell. He woke up from sleep and came out. He told me that geysers were turned on just before (lie). I asked him how much time it takes. He told me thirty minutes. I asked thirty minutes? He replied it wil take 15 min minimum. 10 min later, office boy came and turned on a switch behind the room (proof that he lied earlier). This happened around 6 am. I waited for 30 min and still hot water was not coming. I went again to manager's room to complain. Afte 10 min, office boy came to the room and realised hot water was not coming and told me that it is solar heater and will take long time. When I questioned, he replied it will take 30 minutes. But, it was more than 45 minutes since switch was turned on. I told office boy that I was waiting for the hot water for more than 1 hour 15 minutes. He told me that he will bring the hotwater in buckets. He brought the hot water with long delays even after multiple follow ups. So, finally, I could do the check out at 7:40 am, 1 hour 40 minutes delayed than planned. Completely because of unprofessionalism by the manager and staff. When I asked for good restaurant in Gudalur, he suggested me a Udupi Hotel over the Sasthapuri Hotel. I went to Upupi hotel and I didn't have good experience. When I checked the reviews, reviews are very bad. Sasthapuri hotel has Things could have been much better if they simply say truth. Because, this is a tourist place and everyone will have their own schedules. 1. When I called before booking, manager could have told me that geysers are not there, solar heater is available and they can provide the hot water in buckets if inform them 30 minutes in advance. We could have planned accordingly. 2. If they could have showed me a solar heater switch and ask me to turn on when needed (1 hour in advance or so). 3. shouldn't have lied to me that switches were on at 5 am or just before I went to the manager's room. All this reminded me a Warren Buffet quote "Honesty is a very expensive gift. Don't expect it from cheap people."

Overall very good. Rooms are clean and pleasant place. Staff and manager are also good. Nothing nagetive to share.

People were helpful. Rooms were decent but hot and plastic wrappers from the bed were not removed, making the stay very unpleasant.

One of the amazing properties in Gudalur , best for family , safe , they have individual villa with 2 rooms and living , for deluxe rooms fridge , kettle etc are available , amazing property with good view , staff are polite and food is delicious ... First day at the property we went for safari to mudumalai and Bandipur tiger reserve ... it was enjoyable and calming in the early morning time .. After breakfast we went to ooty . We came back in the evening and had an amazing camp fire they set for u and we could see deer at night at the back side of the resort .. next day we went to mysore .. 3rd day we stayed at the resort and enjoyed .. over all it was an amazing experience . I will 5 star for the stay , 5 star for the staff ..

This place is so blissful.Must visit when in mudumalai and the best thing is that it's so much close to nature / / Deers can b seen right next to ur property.
