Mrs Bhandari's Guest House is a fantastic place to stay - calm and serene, with wonderful food, lovely staff and the special character of a place that has frozen in time its charm of decades past, yet kept up with all the modern amenities that weary travelers might wish for. The staff, and especially the owner, provided us with great tips for sightseeing (in three languages!) and arranged our trip to the border ceremony and the Golden Temple. We cannot recommend this place enough!

Back after 2.5 years of not being able to travel due to the pandemic. Coming back to Mrs. Bhandari's Guesthouse feels safe and like I'm coming home. The experience and service is consistent and reliable. The serenity, food and care given to patrons upon arrival and during their stay is unparalleled. I HIGHLY encourage more people to come to the Holy city of Amritsar and stay at Mrs. Bhandari's Guesthouse. It's a bit off the beaten path which is a really nice feature so that you are not constantly berated by the local people wanting your business and money constantly. Easy enough to get in and out of town to visit the Golden Temple and all the shops and various other sightseeing options. The pandemic has had an impact on the entire world and as economies are trying to get back on their feet, supporting a small family owned and operated business in a third world country is a really great place to put your faith and business.
A superb base for sightseeing in Amritsar. Away from the hub-bub of the city but only Rs100 tuk-tuk ride to the Golden Temple. After a day's sightseeing, you can relax in this oasis with an ice cold beer on the veranda outside your room overlooking the flower gardens filled with wildlife. Bliss. Excellent value for money and Soonir the manager is a great source of top tips. Good quality meals are available and the homemade mango marmalade served at breakfast is especially good.
An amazingly tranquil oasis to call home while exploring Amritsar. Great staff, peaceful gardens, amazing food! Homemade yogurt and ghee from the buffalo in the side yard. So beautiful.
Hot water packs for the beds are the icing on the cake at Bhandari's. Although Mrs. Bhandari passed in 2008 at the age of 101, her daughter and caring staff continue to carry the warm traditions that her strong personality and impeccable character established in the many years of service to diplomats, servicemen, and travelers alike. This self sustaining compound boasts incredibly delicious Punjabi food and unparalleled service that is well worth a visit when traveling to Amritsar to see the Golden Temple and surrounding areas. We stayed with five children and found the experience rather pleasant, affordable and unforgettable. The Shimla market is nearby and is a source for custom garments made to order.
I was there in winter. Though the place does not have central heating, every bed had a hot water bag. Slept very well. Mrs. Bhandari and her staff took real care of us. If were in Amritsar again, I know where I am going to stay
