Moteshwer Mahadev - Hindu temple in Kashipur - Udam Singh Nagar, India

I live in kashipur since 8 or 9 years i never get chance to visit temple. But yesterday I visited temple. Its very good temple. I like the sheshnag statue inside temple. So calm place.

Abode of Lord Shiva,Principal deity of Kashipur. Also called as bhimashankar mahadev.shivlingam on first floor and mighty size are specially beautiful qualities in this beloved temple. During Shivratri and famous chaiti Mela, The abhishekam of this shivlingam gets attraction. One of the most revered temple of Uttrakhand and western Uttar Pradesh.

Moteshwar Mahadev Temple is situated on the banks of Mahadev Nagar in Chaiti Maidan of Kashipur, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand. There is a temple of Mata Bal Sundari just in front of the temple. This temple is said to be of Mahabharata period and its Shivling is considered to be the twelfth Upajyotirlinga. Due to the thickness of Shivling, it is famous as Moteshwar Mahadev Temple. According to Skanda Purana, Lord Shiva said that the devotee who will bring Ganga water from Haridwar on his shoulder and offer it here, will get salvation. Due to this belief, people offer kanwar here when their vow is fulfilled. Moteshwar Mahadev Temple is on the second floor. There is a copper floor around this Shivling and it was made by an artisan of Jageshwar. Due to the thickness of Shivling, no one can surround it with both hands. It is said that earlier the Shivling was in the first floor, but due to the ever increasing height, now the Shivling has reached the second floor.

This is the most soothing and very famous Shiva temple I have been to . Unlike many other temple cleanliness is greatly taken care of . There is special pooja organised on special days dedicated to lord Shiva like on Monday , triyodashi and Shiva ratri . Besides a couple of other deities are also worshipped here . The temple opens at 4 am and closes by 10 am . During the time of chaiti mela this place is frequented by many devotees to seek Darshana as it is in close proximity with chaiti Devi temple.

This is a very famous and ancient temple of Lord Shiva. The atmosphere here is very positive and energetic. Here everyone's wishes are fulfilled by the grace of Lord Shiva. Every year lakhs of devotees come here on Shivratri festival. This is a very beautiful temple. Har har mahadev

It a very well known temple of lord shiva and it is also a 12th upjyotirling. According to the Shiv Puran Bhima Shankar Jyotirlingam is in Kamroop. According to the historic and spiritual books, it is called the place of Bheem Shankar Jyotirlingam. In Mahabharata, this place was also known as Dakini. This was the reason Adi Shankaracharaya has illustrated the place by saying "Dakiniyam Bhimashankaram". Its existence is also described by Kalidas in his "Raghuvansh". The reason for the name Dakini is the forests which has gone. The lingam of this temple is very large and touching the whole ling with two human hands is impossible. This kind of lingam is not present in any other part of the country. It is believed that it rises and till now it has reached second floor. It includes a Bharav Nath temple and a Kund known as Shiv Ganga Kund; in front of this kund is the river Kosi Pooja timing -. 6-12 am and 4-8 pm
