Moosi Maharani Ki Chhatri - Featured Reviews (6100)
This Chhatri is one of the most beautiful & well built cenotaphs one could see . It is built on two levels, the lower of Red sandstone and the upper of grey & white marble. It is characterized by a symmetric design & exquisite carvings on the inner pillars, walls & roof. Make it a point to visit this place if you are anywhere near Alwar city
The place is an architectural marvel with one of the finest scenic views in Alwar. Unfortunate that the local authorities are not taking a good care of it as the place requires a lot of maintenance. There's a huge pond at the center surrounded by the finest "chhatris" and a fantastic view of the temple. If you are heading to the Moosi Maharani Ki Chhatri by a car or your own conveyance then Google maps may fail to deliver the exact location as the way to the place follows by the route of the Local Court. However, the locals are impressively helpful, who'd rather help you before anything else.
It's located in alwar . Nice historic monument and very good for photography. Once must visit when you go to sariska or alwar. Best time is winter's as summers are very hot and you might not be able to roam about nicely.
This can be called Alwar's most artistic monument and the most regal as well, replete with a fascinating story. Maharaja Vinay Singh of Alwar built this double-storeyed cenotaph in 1815 in memory of his father Maharaja Bakhtawar Singh. It is also known as Moosi Maharani ki Chhatri after the king's mistress, who performed sati here when he died. After the sati, she came to be accepted as king's wife. It is an elegant monument, shaped like a flower and built with a blend of brown sandstone and white marble. The first storey is made in sandstone while the upper storey and chhatris (cenotaphs) are made in white marble. Its carved pavilion has domed arches with exquisite floral tracery and patterns. There are intricate designs that shine brilliantly under sunlight. Bala Qila, on a hilltop, can also be seen from Bakhtawar Ki Chhatri. The colourful circular ceiling is an important part of Moosi Maharani Ki Chhatri and is adorned with fading gold leaf paintings of mythological characters and scenes. Footsteps of Maharaja and Moosi Rani are carved in marble inside the cenotaph, and locals pay homage to them.
Alwar is one of the best place I have visited in Rajasthan. I got amazed by the charm of the city. Nestle in the lap of mother nature. It is surrounded by hills. The simplicity of the inhabitants will mesmerize you.. There are many places to visit in Alwar like City Palace, Silesera lake, etc. Moosi Rani ki Chatri is one of them. No entry fee is needed here. It is marvel of architecture. The intricate work, stone carvings will make you spellbound. Sundown looks amazing from here. Nearby places to visit- City Palace and Alwar Bazar. Alwar is also famous for Silver Jewelleries. So, if u r planning to visit Alwar, then dont miss to shop silver Jewelleries from here.
Moosi Maharani ki chhatri threw us in surprise. An emerald lake in the middle of a tiny town was a great view. The cenotaph of Moosi Maharani is so beautiful, that it left us speechless. The lake facing cenotaph was built by her son Vinay Singh after the queen's demise. She wasn't the legally wedded queen of Maharaja Bakhtawar Singh but his mistress. Coincidentally she was the only one who gave birth to a boy who became the legal heir of the kingdom. After she practiced Sati, her status changed to that of a queen and people's respect for her grew by many folds. Partly made of res sandstone and local white marble, the cenotaph or chhatri has a flower shaped rooftop. Several staircases lead to the first floor of the terrace with ornate pillars and beautifully carved walls. The ceiling of the main hall has paintings from epics. The green lake's view from the first floor is stunning. No entry fee for this place yet recommend to visit from morning till sundown.
I'm nature lover kind of person accordingly I loved this place very much. We have travelled through a car from Gudhachandra ji to Alwar. It took around 2-3 hours to reach at destination. When we have reached the place was full of bunch of boys who were playing cricket. Then we moved a bit and saw moosi maharani ki chhatri. It was damn cool view. It is a fort where you can do photoshoot and feel so relaxed and heartwarming. I haven't see any shop nearby to eat something so this place was clean too. There was a rainbow in fond. The view was mesmerizing. Rest will be imagined via images. Must visit place guys. Best of luck
It's a historical place and nice view and good for photo shoot it's free of charge entry
