I recently had the opportunity to visit the captivating Yana Caves, and I must say it was an extraordinary experience. Nestled amidst lush Western Ghats, these unique limestone rock formations are a sight to behold. The trek to the caves is invigorating, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Once inside, the natural formations, stalactites, and stalagmites are awe-inspiring. The spiritual ambiance of the place, with an ancient temple adding to the charm, makes it a perfect blend of nature and culture. The guided tour was informative, providing insights into the geological significance and local legends associated with the caves. Yana Caves is a hidden gem that nature enthusiasts, adventure seekers, and anyone seeking tranquility should not miss.
Very nice place with , trek of 40 to 50 min . Moderate trek edru tu goof view
One of the best places in Karnataka Awesome experience in this spot. Very Good view and superb sightseeing . There is a beautiful small temple under the rock. The Single Stone(rock) is one of the awesome view. The place is good for all. Fun filled and adventure places. Totally it's worth to visit the place.
As you enter from parking, a short dirt track takes you to the rocks and the adjoining temple right in front. The rocks are high and in pointed formation which stand out in the middle of a jungle. You could do a trek from the there to go down along the water stream. There are about 350 steps to reach the stream and another small temple. There are small caves and good amount of places to stop and take rest.
Beautiful geological formations. Trek towards the caves from Kumta road is well maintained y Forest Department. Good washroom facilities.
Reached around 4pm. Weather was clear and sunny. The rocks look magnificent. The path leading to this place is well shaded and cool. There is a stream running alongside the trail. Easy spots to access the stream and chill out. The roads leading to this place are not great but good enough to cruise around 40 kmph. Roads are narrow and if you are travelling in a car, be careful around the curves as vehicles ply at a high speed here.
Amazing place... Though u need to walk a bit but it's worth it...The rays coming inside were great to look at... We just loved it...So close to nature
Yana Hills are located in the Sahyadri mountain range of the Western Ghats and fall under the must-see category of hill stations in Karnataka. Apart from abundant natural beauty and remarkable creations of nature, Yana Hills are a popular pilgrimage venue and offer a lot of scope for interesting activities. Yana village is in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka and is famous for two rare and unusual rock formations, the Bhairaveshwara Shikara (hill) and the Mohini Shikara. The gigantic rock formations stand majestically amidst the verdant environs of evergreen forests of the Western Ghats. Yana is located 25 km from the coastal town of Kumta and 40 km from Sirsi near the Chandrika River. Yana Hills is considered to be an ideal destination for trekkers, nature lovers and pilgrims. The two rock formations are composed of solid black crystalline limestone. Of the two rocks, the taller one is the Bhairaveshwara Shikara which is 120 meters high and Mohini Shikara is 90 meters high. Yana is famous as a pilgrimage center because of the cave temple below the Bhairaveshwara Shikara where a self manifested Shivalinga is located. From the roof over the linga, water keeps dripping, enhancing the sanctity of the place. Shivaratri is very famous here and a car festival is also held.
Beautiful caves, awesome place to visit, but make sure you have enough stamina to reach there, it's located after 2.5 KM tracking from parking point. Tracking is really difficult for old people, make sure you are enough hydrated, because you will tak
