I wanted to explore the architecture of Goa and we decided to travel to Chandor to visit the heritage houses. The Menezes Braganca house is the second house we visited. We started out with a hall which had beautiful Chinese vases and paintings. The flooring was absolutely beautiful. The chairs, beds and the furniture were well maintained and beautiful. The dining hall was magnificent, it had lots of plates from all over the world. The heritage and history behind this house is fascinating. One of the most beautiful houses that I've seen.
Its a big mansion. Two houses, 250 /- per person and 200/- per person to enter the house. If you want to explore traditional Portuguese houses you can visit. My trip is a budget trip so I didn't get inside. Now ancestors are Living here.
For a brief moment you think you're in a haunted home cause there is an eerie silence till someone opens the main door on the 1st floor. For 250 per person, this is an interesting place to visit. Avoid small kids who would rather run on the sands than dodge through the maze of artefacts they have. A lot of the collection is Asian, and Rohan is very honest in admitting that some of the European furniture were bought in pairs and then made in India by local artisans. It's still very much worth a trip and the drive to get here from North Goa is breathtaking
The Menezes Braganca House is filled with almost 500 years of history. The owner has an impressive knowledge of various artifacts present in the place. The per person cost of private tours of the place is Rs 250. The tour typically takes about 40 minutes. I would definitely recommend visiting this place !
Beautiful heritage house complete with furniture, porcelain. Nicely hosted and guided
A splendid house adorned with traditional antique embroidered with artwork that long lost. Large halls and unique furniture. A peep into Portuguese goan past.
Beautiful 500 year old Portuguese house which is worth the visit once for its eye catching architecture.
The two antique homes are decorated and furnished in a Goan Portuguese manner. History may be seen in the home to the right. A must-see, especially the mansion to the right. Not too awful on the left either.
