Sri Megheswara Deva Temple , 12th Century Built, Ganga Period TankaPani Road , Bhubaneswar-Old Town, Odisha Not very far from the Previous Temple , another Resplendent Heritage Architecture belonging the Ganga Period. The mention of this place is found two slabs of dark stone which are on the western wall of Sri Ananta Vasudeva Temple , Bhubaneswar and a brief history in 26 lines. The foundation of this magnificent temple of Lord Shiva (Meghgeswara - Lord of the Clouds) by Sri Svapnesvara - a close connect and a very Powerful General of the Eastern Ganga King Shri Anangabhima Deva -1 . He ascended the throne in 1192 A.D towards the end of 12th Century. In the lines of the verses 22-32 - He mentions about the foundation of this temple , provided a number of female attendants to the God, laid out a beautiful garden, built a tank near it with a mandapa or an open hall. He provided wells and tanks on the roads in the town, cloisters for study of vedas, and to the pious brahmans he gave a brahmapura which was superitended by a Saiva teacher Vishnu . He consecrated this temple . The timing could not have more auspicious for me , to visit Lord Megheswara with the the backdrop of Cloud cover with sun playing hide and seek. The ASI Horticulture Dept has done a splendid job of recovering the surrounding and laying out the Garden . This represents one of the finest structures built during the Ganga period on a Navaratha Plan. The carving of Lord Kartikeya Stands out among the other ones. The entrance to the temple through the Jagamohana is guarded by the Nagas. Similar to ones found in the neighbourhood temples. Sri Nandi keeps waiting and guarding the lord . The Courtyard continues to be active with devotees , essentially this is live and functional temple.
The temple is very old, surrounded by a beautiful garden and pond. You can spend some peaceful time there. There are not much crowd also.

This is an old place dedicated to Lord Shiva. This place is small but beautiful. Government should take care of this place.
The Megheshwara Temple is situated on the Tankapani Road nearer to Sai Temple on Cuttack Puri Bypass Road, nearer to Sai Temple. Good Shiva Temple, down to ground level, good environment. One problem is that at rainy days water comes to the deity Lord Shiva.
This is a wonderful place in Bhubaneswar. If you visit this temple you will get a temple that built in 1200-1300 AD . This temple is completely made up of old stone only that creates a picture of stoney temple.
