Mausi chakuli is a go to place for late nighters who look for yummy breakfast before going to sleep and it is also go to place for early birds wanting some healthy food to start the day. This place serves chakuli (pitha) along with hot chutney on a leaf. The chakuli served here is unique and one of its kind as the chakuli is steamed on top of Jugaadu Steamer instead of baked on a tawa as every where else. No oil is used in the process and hence it is very healthy too. The chutney is a red hot chilly and garlic mixture which perfectly compliments the chakuli. Note - even if you are not a spicy lover, this place still should be tried at least once for its mesmerizing experience.

1star for mausi. But now,her son doing business taking mausi good wills. Today when i paid the price we ate,1 single pcs chakuli was rs 10 size was like my palm without finger,taste like rice chakuli.

In the land of dahi bara and aloo dum, this 78 year old lady has made her way into the stomachs and hearts of Cuttackias with her steamed 'pithas' (rice pan cakes) with garlic chutney. Popularly known as 'Chakuli Mausi', she has been serving this healthy and delicious breakfast for as long as 55 years now.In a very small part of her own house in Jhola Sahi, Cuttack, she serves the 'pitha' with her famous garlic paste. Apart from being the perfect snack for health conscious people, its tangy and spicy taste not only leave a lasting impression but also tempt you to keep coming back to her. The best thing is that it comes at a cost of only Rs 5 per pitha! Justifying her name, Annapurna Devi, she truly takes care of all her customers as if she is their mother, serving them great food with a lot of love and affection. She serves the hot 'pithas', with the chutney over it, on a small leaf. Her journey from selling the 'pithas' for 50 paise to five rupees has been truly amazing. "It's been a wonderful 55 years, I would say. I've actually seen how Cuttack has transitioned. Sitting at the same place over these years and seeing people growing up has its own satisfaction. I've seen some of my customers since their childhood. They still come to me to have my hot pithas. While everything around me has changed, my 'pitha' still tastes the same", said Mausi. Starting her small food 'outlet' at 6:30 in the morning, she makes quite a lot of pithas but her stock lasts only till 11. With people hovering around her small house, she sometimes has so many orders that you would have to wait for over an hour to get your share!

Always amazing.. it's a very old place with same taste. Only caution, for bulk order (more than 10) prebook a day in advance else the lady will speak with you in spicy terms
