It is busy terminal for buses. Can be improved. The wash facilities are pretty basic. It is pay and use toilets. Dominated by private operators. Except couple of operators others are pretty rough. No announcements. Left to the operators to call or not to call. No apologies for delays which happens pretty often. The authorities can take a lead and get more organized and get the operators under control. Punishment or reward can only work here.

Very big bustand in mattuthavani. 24x7 operates. Ply buses to various parts of kerala Karnataka and Tamil nadu. Many shops are there in the bus stand complex. Tea shops and bakery operates 24x7. Few shops follow token system for getting tea. Pay first get token and then get hot tea. Passengers r seen all day here. This acts as a hub towards bus across Tamil nadu.. maintanence is poor. Bus stand is dirty. It also has pay and use toilet for men and women For urine passge toilet charges 3rs

I traveled from Trichy to Madurai in a government bus. Government bus is so clean and neat very good andgreat condition not like other state bus. The conductor was do nice and kind explained the time taken and little things about Madurai. Then arrived MGR Bus Station The Bus Station is nice. Clean bus stop plenty of shop's. Hotel inside is OK but I suggest to eat outside. The bus station has plenty of connecting buss.
