MATHERAN DASTURI CAR PARK. LAST POINT FOR CARS - Parking lot in Matheran - Raigad, India

I wont suggest to come by own car to matheran on weekends. Huge area for parking but still tourist load on sat-sunday is too much so there is always parking issues on weekends. This may cause damage to your car if someone hits your car. Authority wont be able to help you as there is tooo much crowd that is unmanageable.Also lots of monkeys are there which may cause dent on roof of the cars. The place is very green, one can spot Giant squirrel on trees over there.

This is the place where you have to park your vehicle when you visit Matheran. Ample parking space available for both two wheelers and four wheelers for overnight parking. But parking space may be full on weekends and holidays. Lots of monkeys around, so don't forget to shut your windows properly. They charge Rs. 50/- per day and Rs. 50/ additional for some kind of tax. So for overnight stay you have to pay Rs. 150/-.

Don't attempt to come in your car on weekend and holidays in your car as parking is limited and full as day progresses climb to matheran hill is steep gradients and hairpin bends and some bad patches road and on top the local maruti vans doing drops drive rashly and overtake in small roads. Wait to park can be in hours so take note before travelling on rush days.

Superb place to visit. It's one of the best hill station close to Mumbai around 100 kms away, where the climate changes immediately as you enter this place.... It's the vehicle free hill station with no bicycles allowed....

Matheran ! I visited this place yesterday. No doubt about how beautiful this place is.i would like mention some point when you reach at place you will notice there n number horse they used for raiding for visit the points.another option is to walk through the point.

Beware of local boys who persuade you into taking horse rides or man-pulling rickshaw. There's always a better way, and that's the toy train way!

Cheaper parking (130 per day) but worst management

BE VERY CAREFUL!! The parking gate employees (I assume they are Government Employees) tried to fleece me by putting the wrong date (next day's date) at the exit. When I got into an altercation, another attendant tried to explain to me that they were providing me with one extra day's ticket that would last until next morning. Basically they were only trying to cheat me, thinking that I wouldn't notice the extra 50 rupees charged to me. I had to raise my voice and then quickly backed off and handed me the change. REALLY? All this is rampant in an OFFICIAL AND LEGITIMATE MANNER at a Government-run parking lot, and nobody is questioning them? I am not surprised by the other reviews here, of cars getting damaged and tampered with.
