Beautiful View From Dam. Although I visited in Non Season. But During the Raining Season Dam Operational and It looks more Beautiful. You can also view Sunset from Here that is Amazing. A quiet place in Non Season if you want to spend some Peaceful Time .
It is believed that, before the dam's construction, there was a seat of "Mata Sharda" on top of the hill. People worshipped the hill. Later, the hill was renamed as Matatila. "Mata" is for Goddess Sharda and "tila" means "top." When the dam was constructed here it was given the same name, Matatila Dam. Matatila Dam was built in 1958. It is an earthen dam with a height of 35 meters. Power Station of the dam is located at the left bank of the River Betwa. The river originates from Bhopal and passes through the outskirts of Jhansi, forming a border line of the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Then, it flows mostly in Uttar Pradesh. Here, it meets the River Yamuna in Hamirpur district. The River is completely rain fed. It features high water discharge during monsoon and very low water discharge during summer. The Matatila Power House features three machines of 10.2 MW each. It was set up in 1965. The catchment area of Matatila Dam is 8000 square miles. Its reservoir capacity is at 4000 M.Cu.Ft.

Good place. If you want to take cool pictures then go in evening, you can get pictures around the location. Dam is under development but i went to see for water falling from every gate of dam but most of the gates were closed. So I got only cool sunset.the reservoir will show the two sun bcz of reflection that is so cool....
Went for the first time, good tourist attraction however lacks discipline as many were driving two wheelers and four wheelers just above the dam beyond parking area which is meant for a walk.
Awesome place to picnic with family or friends There is a garden below the dam , where you can sit and spend time with your loved ones. Specially, in this season the weather is nice so you gonna enjoy. Memorable trip of one day for me.
Travelled there from Sagar during rainy season. The water body was huge and starts way before reaching the dam. There's good forest in the nearby area. We went a bit ahead and managed to see a pair of Sarus cranes (the biggest flying bird; rare). There's a park as well, which would be a good addition if you're travelling with family.
