Tarna mata is the reigning deity of Mandi town, this temple is situated on the top of tarna hill. It overlooks the whole town, district court, earstwhile royal palace now hotel Raj mahal, Indira market etc. You can reach temple via road and via stairs case. Both routes are well maintained.
A very beautiful and peaceful place to visit. One can take stairs from Indra Market or can take autorickshaw till the temple also. If you wanna spend some peaceful time in the Mandi city, this is the best place to visit.
A beautiful Temple situated at the top of hill, during my childhood, we used to go there regularly. Once situated in forest, it has become part of Mandi city. Stairs of the temple are in bad condition and dirty because no one wants to use stairs these days.
Tarna mata mandir, or Shyamakali mata mandir holds a history that atleast some 200 300 years ago the Sen king of Mandi won a war and on that occasion build this temple. This is at some height from Mandi town and from here you can see the whole town. The temple is very well maintained, clean and basic washroom facilities available at a nearby park outside temple. From the bus stand or Indira market area one can easily find a rikshaw at 50-60 to reach there but may find difficulty to find one while coming down. There are steps to directly come down through lanes and houses but a first timer may find the route confusing and get lost. A Peaceful place.
