It's a beautiful monument located near the Palayam Juma masjid. It was built as a memorial for the brave warriors who fought and lost their lives in the great freedom fighters. This monument and properly maintained greenery is of course a great tribute to India's freedom fighters. Today most of the political agitations in the capital city, against the state and central governments start from here.

Martyrs Column or rktsaakssi mnnddpN (Rakthasaakshi Mandapam - in Malayalam) is one of the most important Public Landmarks of the Capital City of Thiruvananthapuram. Situated in the heart of the city in Palayam, The Column was constructed in the Capital after the formation of the State of Kerala in 1956 in memory of those who laid down their lives fighting for India's freedom.
