Markandi Beach - Beach in Ganjam - Ganjam, India

A truly unique beach where you can witness a river meeting the sea; the river's flow is steady and not too deep, allowing you to swim, be submerged, and watch the sunset with the sea at your back.

A lesser discovered beach in Berhampur (actually in Konisi). This beach is to the South-West of IISER Berhampur (A science institution of National Importance). The beach is connected to the private beach of IISER where a lot of outsiders are not allowed. Ultimately this place is very less crowded for the majority of the time and you can take you time enjoying there. I did a cycle ride to the place and there are two routes via Google Maps. One will take you through the IISER main campus and you can observe the building of a beautiful campus and the other route will avoid this confrontation. If you do not want any problem you can take the latter route. The waves are slow and the beach is connected to a shallow river where you can take bath and enjoy with friends. The current is safe for any adult to swim and there is less chance of drowning. The locals are good people and you can leave your less valuable things on the beach and not worry about it getting stolen. Google maps may show a slight error as there is a small village there and narrow roads, which makes the GPS act up. Just ask the locals and they will guide you. Best time is either early morning or anytime in the evening. I would not recommend going there alone as in case of drowning there is no one is to save you. So, stay safe.

Had a cycle ride from berhampur ( gopalpul junction ) to this place ...it was a great experience ..amazing place if u want to visit some beach area in your locality..it is the junction of river and sea...you have to take a turn near rambha chakka while going from berhampur..you will get some walpaper material for your electronic device ..that is for sure

The estuary place where sea and river meets. Good place to visit. Sea beach is clean less crowded. Route to the beach not so comfy.

Peace , not much crowded and frankly not much anything to visit the place. But good place to go for day time picnic. Evening view is beautiful.

One of the best beach in ganjam district, ecosystem & environment is really awesome, it's a great place to discover different sea creatures. Due to water logging in a specific area of the beach an ecosystem has been created where we can see different types of sea creatures that we generally don't get to see in normal beaches, it's a great place to spend time with friends and family

Nice place for enjoying the weekend with friends or family...but no shop is there for snacks & other items... drinking water facility also not available here... Nice place for bath...
