Budget Hostel in Gangtok. A bit challenging to reach from the main road. We got a dorm bed with 450/- per head(Breakfast included)--a remarkably maintained and clean hostel with travel vibes around you. The breakfast was quite good. Parking is near the ground. Recommending
The USP of this place is the mountain view around. The place is very clean, cosy and comfortable with all modern amenities. Very rare and new experience to stay in this kind of accomodation within 10 mins of Gangtok main city. Won't be recommending this place for older persons as it has a good amount of stair climb to the main road. The host was very humble and food served was really tasty. We have been assisted for booking of North Sikkim trip by them at a very reasonable price.
Lovely place. If you are looking for a peaceful time with your friends and family. Must visit Margaret's Villa! Met V, the host of this beautiful stay welcomed us like family and supported us in all manner. The food his mother cooks is just out of the world. He is a great guy. Very humble and nice personality. The rooms are clean and large. Will visit again if a pass by. One Should stay here for a week and enjoy the beauty if nature around it. You can go for trekking with his jeep to the peak of Nathula Pass at 14K feet! Amazing experience. God bless you brother.. See you soon....
As it says, first impression is last impression, and in my lifetime of travel I haven't seen such an inhospitable host. As soon as i entered, the house keeper didn't even allow me to relax but said that first pay whole of the amount. I have no problem with paying total amount first but it's the way they behave. They are very rude and completely unprofessional. Then there is no place to sit like a sofa, just your bed. When served dinner, I asked for a table where atleast I can keep my plate and eat peacefully, but they said there is no table, you can eat by holding in your hands. The house owner is not in this place and he has kept a housekeeper to take care of the property. Fun fact is after sometime I asked the housekeeper that why is the host so arrogant? He replied that he himself is not liking this job but he has to follow order, what can he do. People I would just tell you that if you don't want to ruin your vacation then please don't book this property. Being in a hospitality business I am sure that this behavior of the host will not help him in the long run.
It's the most economical hostel im Gangtok, located far away from the main tow,, easy to access by sharing taxi that cost just rs. 30 . The place is nice, rooms are too spacious and well decorated with just 4 bunkbeds in a room. However, the service can be improved, travellers would love if they get some more food options at their stay. The host is friendly. Would totally recommend this place for travelers(not typical tourists- as they need room service and luxury).
#8 I reached Margarets Villa Gangtok on a Saturday, because I had seminars to attend on Sunday. During my stay, I found this homestay to be exceptionally professional, and homely. Cutting it short and sweet, it is a place you would never forget. Be it food, hospitality or the overall management, I could not be more happier.
Hey Sanjana, Just Loved the rooms and decoration provided. Without doubt one of the favorite hotels I stayed during my time in Sikkim! The location isn't much close to the town, but neither too far. The viewpoint from the terrace was astounding, simply one of the best at this rate (hotel) I've got.The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant very flexible (appreciate this!) and the restaurant supervisor deserves a special thanks. We had two great evenings here, which obviously also added up to the experience. The second day we did a village trekking which was guided by Gyalchen Chettri, who works as a tour guider in the nearby hotel as well. Gyalchen is such a warm personality and highly motivated guide (recommendable!). I truly enjoyed walking the Six of us through the mountain foot roads. The scenery was beautiful and it was a relieve to walk in such a quiet and peaceful environment. The natural bath on the end was a great way to end the trekking. The Meals were not upto expectations cause it was a budget plan (5k)/person., But whatever it was, it tastes really good. I'd suggest if you're visiting there as a college student for adventure, you'd just pick this (not a paid promotion).! I just felt like writing this cause it was one of my best experience there enjoying the leisure of my life. I'd just visit once again and this time It's my dream to travel via bike. Nevertheless cheers to the people of Sikkim., They've been very helpful throughout the tour. Sikkim's been such a clean and green area. Damn! I'd love to see our rest other states to be such clean. The cleanliness policy of the people is too strict! And I Loved that! Note, this is not a 4/5-star hotel or so, but the atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me. All respect for you miss Sanjana who did a great job here; providing us such an affordable stay and made us feel a true sample of excellent hospitality!
Booking a Gangtok stay is not difficult, but it becomes an almost impossible job when you reach Gangtok at midnight. Most hotels didn't allow us in, nor responded to our calls but Mr. V from Margarets Villa homestay Gangtok turned out to be a true exception. He not only helped us check in at the dead of the night, but also made sure we got a wholesome dinner, even though he had to get back to cooking early in the morning, as a batch of people were going out to North Sikkim. It's a small homestay, and I like things small, just like my family. It's cosy, picturesque and affordable-- and that's a rare combination entirely! I wish Mr. V all the very best with his budget north sikkim packaged tour which I wanted to book but had to let it slide because of want of time. I will be coming back sometime next year.
