Lake itself is beautiful but is being used as a waste dump location. If the corporation can clean and police the offenders, this could be a wonderful bird sanctuary

Among the locals, the lake is most generally known as a yeri/eri. Over time, the area occupied has shrunk. People who live nearby treat it like a garbage dumping site. With multiple environmental issues such as water pollution, global warming and more on our radar, I feel it is the responsibility of the people, not just the government, to protect such water bodies. Flooding happens because there is no separate path or location for water to flow or accumulate. As a result, water begins to flow across human-inhabited provinces. Maraimalai Nagar escaped life-threatening damage during the Tamil Nadu floods, and I believe it is all thanks to this lake. If properly cared for, it may become a safe haven for exotic birds - at the moment crane like birds, parrot, kingfisher and pelican are seen around here regularly. Moreover, the lake can make sure that our underground reservoirs stay replenished. Pathways were constructed in a particular side to allow people to stroll around the lake's perimeter. However, this section is poorly maintained, and some areas have overgrown plants, which is dangerous. Note: This place is yet to become a tourist spot.

Nature seems not to be less here. View of sun shine feels great with the lake around. The road let's you to that place will give a fantastic experience.

This Maraimalai Nagar Periya Eri lake which was about 120 acres area has shrunk to less than 80 acres due to layouts promoted by CMDA itself besides others. It is God's gift that such a vast water body has got located at the centre of this ever growing township. This large water body is left uncared for and is being used as sewage water disposal area, seriously polluting the ground water in the adjoining residential areas. Will the authorities concerned look into this degradation of this huge water body and save this?;

I think government can take steps to clean this lake and it's to be pure in nature & nice scenery
