Mantam Lake is 14 kms away from Mangan, the district headquarter of North Sikkim,India. Entire Sakkyong in the upstream region of the Kanka Khola(khola means river in Nepali Language) has witnessed severa landslide occurances during the Sikkim Earthquake on 18th September 2011.The collapse area along the Mantam beach has subsequently evolved into one of the largest unstable zone on the Passing dang -Mantam Road in North Sikkim. From the beach you can visualise the Mantam Landslide area. I have shared some snapshot of this lake.
Reaching this place is an adventure in itself. Otherwise great place to visit.
Mind-blowing view
A serene and peaceful place. Not very crowded and you can enjoy the green natural beauty here just by yourself.
On 13 August 2016 is turningpoint for mantam village. Because on this day mantam was totally changed by landslide... Now a days mantam is very famous place for picnic dastinay and all .... From mantam we go upper Dzongu...like hot spring ....tholung monastery, pantong, bay etc... Problem Road conditions is very poor ...and here we don't get network ........
Must Visit place in Dzongu.
