In my childhood days many time i visited this tank with my friends... Very big tank. Those days few bold guys swim from bank of the temple to center place. Center place has a temple. We can also see fishes in this tank. Deep tank. Never witnessed and heard that this tank is dry in my life. On the south bank there was a bus stop and a banyan tree. A christian school / training school is adjacent to this tank. It is believed as gateway (who travel from kumbakonam to Mannargudi) . Changing room and temple are there in most of the sides of the tank. Brave boys used to jump from top of the structure to tank !!! All four bank roads are smooth. In evening you can enjoy good breeze in this area. Good place for evening time pass and walking path for elders.
World's largest temple tank. It gets water from the river which runs nearby. Water is chilly all over the year. Previously boating facilities are available but not now.
Haridra Nadhi is a temple tank located at Mannargudi and it's the only pond which is denoted as river (Nadhi) in Tamil Nadu. It is the largest temple pond in India and hence it is the reason behind the name - Haridhra Nadhi. This pond is filled with water from two reservoirs, where one from Pamani River is poured manually with electric motors and the natural reservoir is through canal from Vaduvur Lake.
