Ridge point is a georaphical point or an location. this place took by surprise as i was not expecting on the SH highway side. The point differenciates the river flow. The rain which falls on the Arabian (as in the ridge) side flows through river let's,towards the west and joins Arabian sea,Giri river as seen inBisile ghat which is the tributary of R.Kumara dhara. On either side of Ridge i. e Bay of Bengal rain water flows and joint, hemavathi tributary of river cauvery. This ridge was installed by then british Engineers while surveying the western ghats. Though the location is simple it's of great importance for me.
This place is very beautiful during monsoon. There is a small lake beside the ridge point. Water-dividing ridges like this one, are abundant worldwide. A ridge represents the highest point in various landscapes, such as continuous mountain ranges and hills, and consequently plays a crucial role in directing the flow of rainwater. It is said that this stone was laid by the British. Worth to visit this place. It is on the way to Patla betta if you're coming from bisile view point.
Markings during British era about howvriver flows and reach the final destination. To the left Arabian sea via nethravati river and to the right kaveri finally reaching bay of Bengal.
Located on the roadside, this is another enthusiast's attraction. There's no entry fee, but there might be a queue depending on time of day to take pictures as people find this fascinating and interesting.
This marker is the ridge between the two watersheds of India. Rain that falls to the right of the marker flows east to the Bay of Bengal. Rain that falls to the left of the marker flows west to the Arabian Sea. The marker was put up by a British surveyor, Colin Mackenzie in 1802. He went on to become the Surveyor General of British India in 1815. The British primarily put up the marker for cadastral purposes (for the purpose of taxation). There is an old sign explaining the significance, but it's faded off.
Mankannahalli ridge point is a geographical point that represents the rain water flow direction.
It's a monument build by British it indicates all the rain water that falls on the left goes to Arabian sea and on the right goes to bay of Bengal. There's also one old majestic tree that looks amazing.
After riding long under hot sun I just parked my bike beside the lake and Had very good sleep for an hour It's very beautiful place in all seasons but monsoon is highly attractive
