Its a good choice for those who love calm, quiet and very beautiful place. Very good ambience. Can do meditation, or yoga there. Very large water body to walk around. Children's play area also there, which is well designed.
Despite the dam's poor upkeep, the garden showcases stately, time-honored trees, offering visitors picturesque photography locations.
The place can be one of the popular destinations, The maintainance, management and marketing team should team up and shouldn't bring value addition to this place.
The road towards are good, ample parking spaces. Nice scenic views especially during Aug-Dec.
No shops nearby for refreshment, Bring your own snacks and beverages to enjoy the sunset with your family.
For kids, there is a play castle and other fun elements.
MangalamDam is a nice place, not that much crowded and very less tourists. If the dam shutters was open you will get a good view. There is resting area and parks.
This dam is covered with forest. A short walk through the forest is needed to reach the dam. Newly added playing area is of superior quality and kids will enjoy it. Other side after crossing the dam is not maintained properly.
As part of our dam explorations in Palakkad, we went to the Mangalam dam recently. The place is beautiful and dam reservoir has a very neat and clean walkway. It was good to know that the dam and it's accessories are being maintained well by the authorities. Scenic beauty of nearby hill ranges and a lot of small islands inside the reservoir are worth watching. Only con we found there was that there are only a few cafes/tea shops inside the dam premises. Also, the bathroom facility near to Dam entrance was not yet ready that time, but I hope it will be ready in the near future.

This dam was built for the Mangalam Irrigation Project. It is mainly an irrigation dam. The dam and the left side canal system were completed in 1956. The construction of the canal was completed and the present canal system was opened in 1966. An area of 6,880 hectares is irrigated from this dam.
Mangalam dam is a beautiful off beat tourist destination free from a busy crowd. It's peaceful and serene . The walk across the borders of the same reservoir is soo calming and peaceful.
Some places in the dam reminds of Kodaikanal and Ooty .
There's an adventure park open for public where one can push theri limits on adventure and give life a different perspective.
Try to visit in rain time, as the dam will be more live and beautiful.
If you visit in the summers, the major portion of the dam will be dried and empty, one can literally walk through the surface where water levels are marked.
This was my own school which I studied from kindergarten to 10th standard, school was now ran by Yuvakshethra Collage Administration. A very Neat and Friendly campus gives an enlightened experience, I love this place very much
