Mangalajodi Wetlands, Tangi - Featured Reviews (84)
Great experience to watch migratory birds. We visited today[12/11/2021]. But best time to visit this place is in January as more birds can be seen in this month. Going in a boat is another experience. Guide and boat driver has great knowledge about these birds. They also provide binocular. We enjoyed a lot.
Mangalajodi & Nalabana Excellent experience to watch migratory birds every year ...
I had been to Mangalajodi on 9th January 2021 as a part of delegation of 3rd National Chilika Bird Festival. From 2.30 PM to 4.30 PM our group was in Mangalajodi. Morning time might be better for bird watching & photography. Mangalajodi nature camp is the ideal place to stay overnight as it's just 5 min drive from Mangalajodi boating point. Though over 160 bird species are present in winter, it's difficult to spot as many species. We had spotted Northern Shoveller, Northern Pintail, Ruff, Brahminy Shelduck, Common Green shank, Black-tailed Godwit, Bronze-winged Jacana, Whiskered tern, Little Egret, Purple Heron, Indian Pond Heron, Barn Swallow, Asian Openbill Stork, Glossy Ibis, Black winged Stilt, Great Cormorant etc.
This is perhaps the best spot in Odisha for bird lovers. One can see a variety of migratory birds here. The best time to visit here is during winters, preferably between December and March.
A natural wetland habitat visited by thousands of migratory birds every year. One can sight different species of Ibis, sandpipers, Egrets, Herons, bar headed geese, swallows, king fishers, raptors, etc. More sightings can be done mainly during the winder season from Nov-Dec to Feb. One can take a boat ride for doing photography or observing the birds in the big lake. Best time is to visit early morning from 6am to 9am or in the evenings from 3pm. There are different staying options like the Government guest house or other resorts (can be booked online) which can cost around 4-5k for 2 people or cheaper rooms for budget stays.
An amazing escape from the hustle and bustle and a relaxing environment. Located around 60 kms from Bhubaneswar ( khandagiri ) .The birds come from all around; from Sri Lanka to Siberia. Peak season : Oct End - Early March The price for boating with 2 guides, Binoculars and life vests is 1200/- for 4 people (which is totally worth it). The sunsets here are to die for. A very unique seasonal ecosystem of a wetland is created which brings the birds
A paradise for the bird lovers...Visit this place during afternoon and stay at this place till evening especially during winter season, then you will encounter the scenic beauty of this wetland. Chirping of Birds, some known and many unknown will surely melt your heart and will force you to capture the splendid view of their patterned flight. If you are interested, then boating facility is available too and you can get a nearer sight of the beautiful birds as compared to the view from the road. Guides are available too at an affordable cost. This place is a "Must Visit"...
Very beautiful place attached to chilika lake. A spot for birdwatching. Can be seen a wide variety of country birds and foreign birds in winter season. Needs government attention and development. The nearby industrial estate ruined the natural wetland. The climate and environment is destroying day by day so birds number is decreasing.
