Mandore fort - Historical landmark in Jodhpur - Jodhpur, India

Mandoe fort Jodhpur (Rajasthan , India) Mandore is an ancient town, and was the seat of the Pratiharas of Mandavyapura, who ruled the region in the 6th century CE. Even after the disintegration of the Gurjara-Pratihara empire, a Pratihara family continued to rule at Mandore. This family formed an alliance with the Rathore chief Rao Chunda (r. c. 1383-1424) to defend its chiefdom against the Tughluq dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate. Rao Chunda married a Pratihara princess of Mandore, and received the Mandore Fort in dowry; the Fort served as his family's capital until 1459 CE, when Rao Jodha shifted it to the newly-founded city of Jodhpur.

The site is nice. However, the fort is rather a ruin. Still worth to visit if you go to the Mandore garden

This was really cool. I enjoyed it more than some of the more popular / promoted forts in the area. Just be wary of the monkees up the top. They can get quite aggressive. Some local boys chased them off with a few stones.

There is no ticket to visit the fort and park. The monkey is too much, please be careful. Very little crowd was seen here. The day we went the canteen was closed, it might not even open now. Quite a quiet place. There is also a museum here

amazing place in jodhpur to learn more about the history of the city and the life few centuries ago. the ticket is pricey but worth it as you get an audio guide with very detailed explanation! We spent about 2 hrs there and really enjoyed it! as a bonus you get very nice views from the city!!!

This place have its historical importance. It's a fort about 800 years back which was attacked and destroyed by muslim envadors. Few destroyed structures are present there .The proofs of tradition ,art and culture in 8th to 20th century are safe in the museum close to the fort . But now this place is converted into a park which is loaded with a museum which shows the art and culture of this place .

Mandore Fort is located at a distance of about 8kms from north of Jodhpur and is considered as one of the major tourist attraction. Mandore is the capital of Marwar region and in ancient era from 6th to 14th century it was called as Mandavyapur. The fort is considered as a finest example of architecture and has significantly hosted several forts and monuments of the bygone era. The walls of the fort are thick build and have several stages. With the passing time the walls of the Mandore Fort has been ruined and collapsed nearly diminishing their existence. The massive boundary walls have been destroyed because of the invaders and later on due to natural calamities. Though the remaining of the temples can still been seen which somehow depicts its rich history. The exterior walls of the temple are beautified with the translucent botanical devises, animals, birds and planet.

A lovely place to spend evenings in Jodhpur. Well maintained. There is an aesthetic temple inside. One will love exploring the fort.
