A very scenic place. Extremely windy. We reached jeep starting point at 6:30 am. Already many jeeps left earlier. They charges 2500 per jeep irrespective of number of passengers. 2-3 small families can get along together and share the amount. Also 350 rs. Entry fees needs to be paid by us. It takes around 45 mins to reach. It's a no plastic zone so all disposable plastic bottles, chips and biscuits will be taken away, not allowed even for small children. Highly appreciated this, as there will be less scope of litter. You can carry other water bottles and snacks in other plastic or steel boxes. They will not return what they take away. Not recommended fir elders, pregnant women and people with other ailments as the off road is extremely bad and dangerous. You can go walking. We saw many going on foot. Select clothes wisely we saw some girls struggling with their skirts and frocks as it's too windy. No eatables are available. Rest room facility is there, but very dirty. Overall a very good experience.
We were 2 members and hired a jeep for Rs. 3k. We started at around 5 am. It took around 45 mins in the off road jeep ride. The off road was rough and shaky. But the view in the hills was absolutely awesome ! Awestruck!
The place is absolutely beautiful. To reach the peak we need to take a Jeep safari which will cost around Rs.2500. The jeep can accommodate 5 persons. The jeep on the off road was an amazing and thrilling experience. The peak is a good view of sunrise but missed as we reached late in the morning but enjoyed the scenic view. We just felt standing between the clouds when we reached the peak.
Such a beautiful place. You can bring your vehicle upto around 2km before the view point. So those 2km you can either walk or take a jeep from the jeep service available there. The entire way to the view point is so scenic. We visited in October and it was all foggy and beautifully greenish.
It was really an amazing experience. The journey by the jeep to the peak was really adventurous and a lifetime experience. For us, the view from the top was not that clear due to fog but was still a good experience overall. If you are visiting coorg, this is a must visit place.
For the jeep, one can get it 15 km away from the peak named Mandalpatti starting point, but it is costly and around 2500 per jeep. One can get a Jeep, 5 km away too from where the road really gets bad and other vehicles are not allowed. It will cost around 1500 Rs. We rented a jeep somewhere in between for around 1800 near a small tea shop. It was near a small bridge on the river with a very scenic view. We clicked some photos and spent some time there too :)
Note: It is really not recommended for old folks or people having back problems as the road is really bad at the top.
Excellent off-road jeep ride experience along with a great climate and views over the peak. The real vibe of coorg is located here. Not to be missed at any cost.
The place is absolutely beautiful! To reach there, a jeep service is available for the last 2.7 kilometers. There are many jeep safaris along the way (before the actual starting point), and those people will try to trick you by saying that you can't drive to the top, that it's risky. However, the roads are actually good, and you can drive all the way to the final jeep point. At the final jeep safari, it will cost you 1200 rupees per jeep, and there's a 50 rupee entry fee for one person. Each jeep can easily accommodate 6 people.
Great experience, you can experience 4x4 wheel drive to reach this point. Once you reach to Mandalpatti peak it was breathtaking views and cold breeze.
