Appropriate for an evening visit with family and friends. Avoid visiting when the sun is high. Built across the Mambazhathuryar river, this reservoir is the major source of water for irrigation around the region. Water is sent from here to approximately 25 tanks which further distribute it. It is nestled between peaks of western ghats and there is a route into the forest from the other side of the reservoir.
A superb calm and quiet place for a weekend visit. A small beautiful reservoir reserving the water from Vellimalai and Marunthukottai Hills. Children's park also available. A walk of 1 km from the bottom to the top of reservoir will be a good experience. Mambazhathuraiyar is written here like Hollywood in Mount Lee. Canal Sluice can be seen here. It takes water from the reservoir to the nearby downstream lands for irrigation.
The road to this place is a bit bad. Around 6kms from villukuri bridge. Good place for a walk but bad condition of road and narrow roads are a bad thing. Poorly maintained and less visitors. Children park is available and you can visit reservoir.
So peace !! So calm !! Slow breeze, water body aside will take u somewhere near heaven. Can enjoy the atmosphere with your loved one.
One of the best and wonderful dam in Kanyakumari It held with children's park but the park were slightly damaged If it become clear it will be a perfect place

Reaching this place is like road to hell , no proper road , the nature scene is beautiful, but there is no one to maintain this place , specially the kids playing area , even the main gate is closed and people are going inside through the gates lock gab, need a lot maintenance to keep this place better for tourism, however peaceful place
