Mamai Dev Kaliya Dhrow - Tourist attraction in Ulat - Kachchh, India

This is ideal place for nature enthusiastic persons. This is about one and half our from Bhuj. For last distance you need to park your vehicle and use local jeep. You should be ready for tracking, but is not at all difficult. The view is fantastic, for a photographer it is very good site. These rock formations are naturally created by water flow and wind. You can find crocodiles in water. You can easy spend couple of hours.

This place is very deeply located in a trekking route of 4.4 km offroading from the location. Recommend only those who are either nature lover or interested in geology.Millions of years to form this rock formation and that too attracting. An absolute fantastic place for adventure enthusiasts. Recommend to go by bike from main location because only suv and big cars only go offroading, small cars with low ground clearance may stuck in sandy trekking roads. Jeep facilities is also there at normal fair price.

Recommend only to those who are either nature enthusiast or interested in geology. Millions of years of sediment deposits resulting in rock formation and that too so clearly visible. It's really a great deal . It shows that we are just a small speck in the evolution scheme. You have to leave your vehicle at the entrance and travel by a local jeep with local skilled drivers. The route is rocky and sand filled with occasional thorny bushes which can cause an injury if you sit by the jeep doors . I have witnessed people complaining that it's not worth visiting cause it ain't entertaining. It was worth for me and my family to learn a bit practical education if sedimentary rocks .

An absolutely fantastic place for adventure enthusiasts. We covered this geological marvel place during our Rann of Kutch motorcycle ride. It was recommended by a friend of mine who lives in Bhuj. The 5 kms off road trail to reach this place was superb and we loved riding that trail. No food or drink options available there so be prepared while visiting. Don't miss this place when you are covering Bhuj. 100% recommended.

We went to this place on Dec 2nd week. In this place you cant find that much water if you go there on From Nov to may. Only on rainy season you can find small falls more water in this area You can see the picture. Also there is Jeep Avaible for rent from main Road to interior.when I went there They asked for 700 to 800 for up and from. It will be like 2KM from main road to that location. If you guys go on bike you can also reach there easily.

Kaliya Dhrow or as it's locally called Kalio Dho (meaning the Dark valley) is close to Bhuj Kutch Gujarat. It's akin to the Grand Canyon of USA, though much smaller in expanse. It's the Chottu Canyon of India. Regular vehicles and cabs can go upto 3 to 4 kms before the locale. There is no further regular road. Just a mud road in the wilderness. Hence you shift to the 4Wheel drives or 2Wheelers to reach the Site. Once there you walk around and explore the sculptures made by Mother Nature over centuries of time. The colours add to the beauty. There is not much water that flows though. Over the centuries the blatant and tough stone has been sculpted into caverns troughs and small valleys by the river that has flown, which exposes its true colours like browns faint maroons ochres yellows. It's in contrast to the greens of the water. There is no entry charge, nor any facilities or amenities. Just a random kiosk vending coolers drinks and maybe a chai to go with dry snacks. Overall a place to see and thus tick the box of natural wonders that our Country beholds. You would need about four hours to devote to the entire sojourn. Personally I'd give it five stars out of ten.

Please travel in a big sized vehicle to get to the place or you will end up paying 600 bucks for local guide to get you there. Do not travel in a sedan, the road is bumpy and uneven and you should be able to drive well. 4X4 vehicle can easily reach the spot however, even front wheel drive should not pose any problem as long as there is decent ground clearance. You can spend half a day, either go early in the morning or try to reach at 4pm. Carry picnic boxes with snacks and drinks and enjoy. Wear sport shoes, avoid slippers and sandals.

To reach at proper place one should take local pick-up jeep. Otherwise enjoy the view from hill. Explore this place while going to White Run, Dhordo from Bhuj. Little narrow roads. No restaurant is nearby.(only one is there.) In summer season it is difficult to explore such place in high temperature.
