Charming small restaurant that services Japanese cuisine - by the road side. Fantastic ambience - takes you to feel like you are in a Japanese dive bar. The food is good, service is quick and staff friendly. Definitely try some of the cocktails. Really enjoyed the starters on a rainy day. The portions are small, on a the pricey side but still worth a visit.

Really fun izakaya in fontainhas. The food is very good. Maybe not traditional Japanese, but the flavors are fantastic. The shrimp and pork belly were especially flavorful. Cocktails were good, and the atmosphere was really fun. Overall, a great place to hang out with friends for an evening. If I lived in the area, it would likely become a regular hangout for me.

Came here after months, the service was slow and the food was genuinely bad. I used the love the food here but this time the pork belly was really really bad and the wings seemed stale. I left soon after but experienced a slight stomach ache on my way back

First of all let's talk about the atmosphere, At first when we arrived there it was slightly different then my imagination but once I entered the place it was just amazing. A whole different vibe with the lively Music, privacy and the comfy and cozy ambience, each table having four sets of chopsticks over rectangular stones. A peep through you can see the kitchen and it gives lovely Japanese vibes!! Secondly the service was very systematic and quick with a kind and responsive man attending to the customers, he gave us the menu card which is not like the normal menu cards The menu card had all the dishes listen on it with a small square next to each dish, in which we need to write the quantity of the dish we want, it is then taken and given to the kitchen after which our dish is prepared and served. I'll say it is a total cave of treasure because of the food there, so flavourful so appetizing and very well presented. Talking about the dishes we had the YakiSoba was the best!! It come in three flavours and we ordered the veg one and I'll say it is a moreish dish, a must try definitely recommend it. We also had Okonomiyaki which was just scrummy, we ordered the tofu Okonomiyaki from the three different types that they offer. Chicken Oyster/Soriresu was the dish that we had next which was succulent and piquant. You'll definitely need to try this one. After which we had Crab Takoyaki, definitely tasty just a little too cheesy and crabby to my taste. The Yuzu lemonade was a luscious and refreshing drink, just felt really nice after having it. A totally toothsome meal!! The chopsticks place on the table are one time use and also as tradition goes is used to determine luck based on the way it seperates, if breaks properly it is said to be good luck and if it breaks unevenly then bad luck to the person who seperated the chopsticks. The table also had soya sauce and pickles and tissues. We enjoyed it all!! As for methods to make payments The place offers cash payment as well as UPI transactions. A total mouth watering meal and lovely experience which was not very costly. Will definitely visit again.

Always been one of my favourite spots in the area the food is top, hits the spot always. Been here 5 times and have had great experiences. Done expect a luxury Japanese dining but do expect top food, great grungy vibe!

It has been a while since I've had Japanese food and I'm glad I visited Makutsu, the place has a very cozy vibe and it definitely adds to the experience. The squid, pork belly, beef tongue and chicken oyster were very good! The size of the pieces of meat were uneven so the smaller ones were slightly overcooked. The okonomiyaki was superb and is something I would come back for. The prawns being overcooked was a little bit of a let down but the rest of the food made up for it.

I had the most horrific experience of my life. I drove 30 kms to get to the place and I had reserved a table 22 days in advance only to get to the place and have a table not made available to me at the agreed time. (9.30pm) I was asked to wait for 5 mins which lasted for 37 mins (10.02 pm), without any apology or ted bit of professionalism. There was a sole waitress who was taking order, in writing. then she forgot the orders, she then lost the paper slips on which she took orders. A diet coke took 15 mins to come when we asked for a refill, they forgot it. Upon reminding they informed us coke is over and they have sent someone to get it from outrside. only for the waitress to inform me they are out of cokes, so she cancelled my order without even asking me. The Food is fine, but by the time you get the table, and then the food, and the way they constantly forget your orders, the whole mood is killed. Two of our orders were misplaces, I ordered two portions of prawns yakitori got only one. my wasabi peas never came, My mains was forgotten, I cancelled half of the order as it was already 11.15 and they were offering to place it at that time. The staff didn't know their heads from their tails. even to bring the bill, the waitress had to be reminded thrice. There is an actual empty bottle of Soya Sauce sitting at the table unattended just like us. I wasn't supplied with chopsticks until I had to get up and ask for it as food was getting cold. Then I had to eat a shawarma outside so I can go home not starving. This was an absolute nightmare. I could give it a minus 5 honestly. This has to be the worst experience of my life ever!!

Sheer luck meant I got a seat in this tiny place and man, am I glad. It's got a very otherworldly, neon vibe going that transports you away from a Goan lane to a dreamy Japanese alley. The incredibly authentic food is just a great add on. Can't wait to return.
