Maharaja Dungar Singh (22 August 1854 - 19 August 1887) was a Maharaja of the princely state of Bikaner from 1872 to 1887. The eldest of three sons of Maharaj Sri Lal Singh (16 December 1831-17 September 1887) a relative of a distant branch of the Rathore clan, Dungar Singh was an enlightened and progressive monarch.

Popular place of tourist attraction. This statue is built in the memory of Maharaja Dungar singhji of Bikaner. The statue is located just in front of the suraj pole of Junagarh Fort. This is purely made up of white marbles of Makrana, Rajasthan. In night it glows milk white when white LED light of the monument is lit. There is less publicity of this place in Bikaner and some of new generation in Bikaner doesn't know the significance of the architectural marvels of Bikaner. Thsi Statue is certainly an excellent example of Bikaner architecture.

The eldest of three sons of Maharaj Sri Lal Singh, a relative of a distant branch of the Rathore dynasty, Maharaja Dungar Singh was keen about new developments and full of progressive mind. He opened the first Bikaner public schools and college during his reign, also organising the first modern police force, an up-to-date budget and fiscal standards, Hospital with a civil surgeon, jails, a post office. Bikaner's college is named after him i.e. Govt. Dungar College.
