Its an old mahagony tree plantation which dates back to 1820 A decent 1.5 km stroll through the forest amidst huge trees fallen and still strong ones We reach the summit where there is a peaceful periyar river where we can have a bath without danger as water level was low Lot of movies shot there Should have to divert from malayatoor church road to ayampuzha through the forest There is a check post and a place to collect entry fee of 50/- per person and parking fee of 30/- A road to bhootathankettu is there through this place Dont miss if you're near kodanad and malayatoor
A really beautiful place with a calm atmosphere. Best to visit during the rainy season. There is an entry fee of about 50 rs and there are many guards. It is located near bank of a river. On my visit time the water flow was very low. Even though I felt a good vibe here. The entry fee is rs 50 for adults. Families and groups are welcomed here. Working hours 8am to 4pm.
Overpriced entri feee. 50rs per person You can't drive inside, butu have to pay parking if u r on vehicle.. they called it vehicle entry fee.. Nice ambience place with less privacy, crowded with lady staffs (same kudumbasree aunties) This place doesn't have CCTV camera But they've these aunties. So annoying. Better u stay at home Only plus point is the river. But not in rainy season. River looks so horrible on rainy days.. like Naran Malayalam movie.
A peaceful place to spend some time with friends, family or your loved ones. You can have a walk among the trees listening to the chirping of birds and sound of falling leaves. There are swings and seats. And we can access the river and take a bath or enjoy playing in river. Access to river is restricted to some region to avoid any unpleasant situations. The river is shallow in summer ,best time for kids to enjoy water. There is a toilet block near the river itself so no need to worry about changing dress. There is a 10min walk to reach the river through the forest and there are very friendly staffs to guide us at each turning points. The place is maintained very well. It is a famous film location also. There is amble parking space and public transport is also available. The ticket rate is Rs 50 per adult. We can buy forest products also from the ticket counter.
Best suited for nature enthusiasts. Entry to River will be restricted based on the water level.
A great place to spend time with family. The road to Mahagani thottam from Illithodu is in shambles but let that not deter you away, as the place is worth that bumpy ride. The place is well maintained and is a no plastic zone. The paths leading to the river are well kept, so it gives a feel of walking amidst a dense tree cover. There is a river at 500m and it has a decent sand bed. The water is safe till the barricades which are clearly demarcated. There are swings put up at several places. Changing rooms and toilets are provided near the river, so do get ready for a swim when you visit this place!
A beautiful 1 km walk through the woods. Nice and calm area. Preferable for families too.. River at the end is quite suitable for bath..
Best for city people who just want to escape from the busy city surrounding. People coming here to spend time with their loved ones. Entrance fee is rs 50/- per adult. Adequate parking space available.
