Magadi Ranganatha Swamy Temple is in a town called Magadi of Ramanagara district in the state of Karnataka. The temple is known for the constantly growing vigraha of Lord Ranganatha out of a granite slab. Magadi is known by various names such as Mandavya Kshetra, Swarnachala, Swarnadri and Tirumale. The name Magadi is the apabhransha of Mandavya Kuti - the hermitage of sage Madavya. From Mandavya Kuti the name became as Makuti and then Magudi and finally as Magadi. Magadi has vast history, splendours, rich culture, divine realm, natural treasures and the sacred Kanva river. It has also been the tapo bhumi of great sages like Mandavya, Kanva, Shuka Muni etc. The origin of Magadi Ranganatha Swamy Temple Magadi kshetra is mentioned in the Brahmanda Purana narrating its greatness and the presence of Lord Srinivasa here.

Built in the 12th century, this is an oldest temple of Lord Ranganathaswamy (Lord Vishnu). The temple complex houses many other deities including Godess Sita, Lord Hanuman, Garuda, Lord Ranganathaswamy (Udbhav Murthy) etc. There's a Kalyani just at the entrance and a couple of small idols of a Goddess and Nandi outside the temple across the street. If you are traveling from Bangalore, the road through Magadi Road would be quite annoying. Take the Kengeri Road to Tavarekere before joining back on the Magadi Road. There are few road works you will come across due to which it's patchy in few intervals. Not much of an option available for lunch or dinner so pack some food if you would not be comfortable with roadside dhaba (so called). The temple is well before you enter the Magadi Town and you can completely rely on the maps.

Very peaceful and divine place situated in magadi, at the outskirts of Bangalore. There are many idols inside temples along with main lord Sri ranganath swamy like sheshayan ranganath swamy, Garuda, anjaneya, bhoo Devi sridevi and so on. Prasadam is served on weekends and is really tasty.

It is 1000yrs old temple that is abode of ranganatha swamy. It is naturally found as saligrama idol. It also is the abode of sri Venkateshwara swamy. It is believed that all the water poured on to the saligrama stone is absorbed by mother earth and not even a single of water spills out during abhishekam. It has a beautiful kalyani in front of it. It is developed by Nadaprabhu Kempegowda. It is around 60km from Bangalore City. The temple timings are 8-12 and 4.30-7.30 on all days.

A very old temple in the town.. God Srinivasa idol in front of the idol there is a Saligrama called and doing Pooja for Ranganatha.. When you enter the temple, first you will see Garuda devaru, later you can see the main god Srinivasa (crowd chanting Govinda...) Later few more small idols.. One more udhbhava Ranganatha temple inside the main temple only.. Finally after all darshana you can see the hanuman temple.. Garuda and Hanuman are almost the same height idols .. Nice to see. Plan when you are on the way to Magadi, Kunigal from bengaluru or else you can go to savanadurga (difficult trekking) evening temple.. Overall nice place and historical

Had a good devotional trip. Good roads from Bangalore and temple premises is well maintained. Temple seva trust had free meals arranged for public. Parking is a bit of problem. This temple has a e-hundi for collecting electronic funds for the temple
