Excellent Guindy Lodge, nice food and beverages at cafe. Nice club house for functions. I attended a program here. Of course the legendary racetrack. Racing became irregular and almost stopped soon after it had begun in the 1770s. This was a result of Hyder Ali, who came within striking distance of Madras. A few years later, 35 cawnies were added and two race courses came up -- a smaller one to train horses and the other with a stand to watch the races. The club functioned till 1875, when the Prince of Wales Edward VII visited Madras. Racing again went through a tough phase and finally in 1887, the Club was revived. A balance of 11 rupees, 13 annas and 12 paise was carried forward to a new club called Madras Race Club with 50 members. "This is the oldest race course in the country and we completed 200 years recently," says B.K. Amanullah Khan, secretary, Madras Race Club.

This evening was at the Madras Race Club Lodge with a friend to watch the India Vs Pakistan match & have dinner. What an amazing place, in the middle of the bustling city, yet nestled in a quite ambience, outdoor humidity & breezeless weather did not dampen the spirit of the game, the food was out of the world, every item ordered arrived in the quantity you need & suitable for the palate, sinfully delicious ! Only suggestion would be to hasten the service as the waiting period was unnecessarily long, ( could be that the food was too very tasty that the service appeared slow while waiting for the next dish! ) The icing on the cake was the items were extremely easy on the wallet Easy parking was yet another reason to love the place In short, it was " an evening to remember " I am definitely visiting this place again !

My friend is a stand member hence I tagged along with him for dinner as the food at these old clubs is tasty at very reasonable prices. That is what I got. Delicious food like the Tomato soup prawn 65 Seer Fish fry and curry all in South Indian style. The service is quick. Restaurant is clean and the prices are very reasonable as sea food is generally expensive in my city.

Well maintained multi purpose function hall inside Madras Race Club. There are many facilities under MRC, yet to explore other facilities like Sports activities, gymkhana club, swimming, bar, etc... Very spacious parking and secured environment for any gathering. Recently attended a function to celebrate 25years of HnS a corporate gathering. Wonderful organized one.

A nice place to rewind for members and their friends.The atmosphere service and food is good.

The hall was : 1. In ambience: Well kept in aroma. 2. In Space : good moving space and neat chairs 3. Service : Neat and clean. On time. 4. Parking : abundant and easily to drive out 5. Podium : Right height and space to the gathering.

Has the old brit charm but only at certain spots of the club. Other wise the maintenance of this place is definitely not upto the mark. The " race course " Is just brilliant . The club is not so great .
