This is the biggest airport in the North East. It is well designed and has all the features a good airport should have. The area after the security check-in is nice and has lots of shopping and food options. The washrooms are clean and well kept. The airport interiors are pleasing to the eye with lots of nice decor, interior plants and good lighting. The first floor has more space and options when compared to the ground floor. Although it is not a very large airport when compared with those in the Metros, it is pretty good. The main problem I have is that, although there are quite a few food outlets, the price is exhorbitant. I reckon the same can be said about all big airports in India. The cheapest coffee is in the Rs.270+ range. Similarly, snacks like sandwich mostly starts in the Rs.300+ range. Not exactly pocket friendly pricing. So, you would be better off bringing food from home if you can manage that. The Lounge is on the first floor. The primary issue is that it does not cover most of the major cards, even the premium one's that are allowed in other airports. That is a big letdown in my humble opinion. Note: I have taken only the photos of the food and shopping outlets of the airport.
Both domestic and international in one premises. The facilities are up to date like any other airport. For limited traffic in this area the staff are very efficiently handling the passengers and guiding them accordingly. The ambience is well set to welcome the tourists.
I'm giving 5 stars for the baby room from the Himalaya company. Like other airports it's also clean and beautiful. Decorated with Assam culture Security checks are done properly Helpful staff It's not a very big airport but has all required amenities I was traveling with my 3 year old son and he was quite excited by the travel and needed a quiet place So someone from the washroom suggested that I go to the baby room It's not big but quite It has 2bikes and a rocking horse 4 big sofas for mother to sit in separate cubicals Diaper changing table 2 strollers Free baby lotion from Himalayas
Good that they have renovated the airport. Problem is there is no decent place to eat before security check. After security check lounge is the key attraction for good food to make great mood. Lot of food option available inside and is peaceful. First floor is less crowded with more space.
The airport is apparently the biggest one in the northeast but a small airport compared to the rest of tier 2 and tier 3 cities. It is one of the important airports as it caters to the entire northeast states and acts as an entry point to them. The airport has all the basic facilities, even lounge access for long waiting passengers. Guwahati city from the airport is around 30-40 mins drive. It does check all the necessary things about the airport so it's all good to fly.
It can be easily described as the gateway of North East India. Though it's a comparatively small airport but somehow well managed. A little bit far from Guwahati city. Almost all the major aviation companies operate flights from here including Vistara, Air India, Indigo etc. only three luggage belts are there in the airport.
Many shops have been added to the airport for travellers to buy from. Coffee shops like Starbucks, restaurants like Khorika, toy shops like Hamleys and chemist shops like Apollo Clinic have been newly added to the newly expanded airport.
Small Airport but caters mostly to the Entire Northeast. They have improved drastically over the years. Lounge is missing and it will be nice to have one. People mostly travel from Shillong and adjoining cities and have to wait for flights. You can always buy Tea packs as last minute gift options.
