Ling's Pavilion - Featured Reviews (1382)
A legendary Chinese restaurant serving simple and authentic cantonese preparations for many decades in the city. The owners are of Chinese origin and the emphasis here is to serve you authentic recipes. They have got some of the top pork dishes in Mumbai. Do ask the server for some excellent recommendations.
A lovely place to share food with your near and dear ones. Located at a walkable distance from Gateway of India, this is an expensive restaurant serving Chinese food. We ordered 3 starters and the bill was almost 2 grand! Sadly the quantity also doesn't justify the price.. Tastewise it's good but nothing great. We tried kung pao prawns, chicken drumstick and chilly garlic chicken. Impressive part is that it has a nice ambience.
Delicious Chinese food. Personally, the food from China town in Kolkata has been my favorite since childhood, it felt very similar here in Ling's. The pan fried chicken noodles and chicken Canton gravy tasted great. The portions are generous. Ambience and service is good too.
Chicken hot and sour soup and Mongolian prawns came to be very salty, soup portions were 25% lesser than its normal portion size, flies presence was very strong on our table, overall quality of food was quite down if compared to the good old days. Upkeep and hygiene of restaurant needs to improve
LP was praised to the sky, Got drawn-in by those lies, We tired reading the mega-menu, Examples of good food we found very few LP is a perfect example of reputation running far ahead of reality. The place is supposedly an 'institution' and you go in with high expectations. Then your first interaction with one of the elderly waiters happens and this person has nothing to offer in terms of suggestions on either the kind of food you should order or the quantity, in any language. He's just there to write down whatever you say and pass it on to the kitchen. The result is that you've picked the exact things you should avoid and have ordered enough to feed two tables. No doubt some things are really good - the Fried Corn Curd and the Bacon-wrapped Prawns - but those were things I came prepared with. None of the things we ordered from the menu made much of an impression. The entire staff is stoic, like they have some "no smiles" policy. And they're unhelpful. Period. I'll take my custom elsewhere, thank you. You obviously don't have a shortage of regulars. The toilets are really really clean.
Authentic Chinese food is served here. But those having indian tastebuds may not like it as much as any other Chinese restaurant. The ambiance is above average. Well built interiors. Absolutely loved the Chinese chopseuy served there, mongolian chicken was very well cooked. The variety of sauce served were really well appreciates. Good staff. Overall, definitely a must try place but I wouldn't wanna go there one more time.
Have never been disappointed with the food or service over the years. They have a very extensive menu - but I'll be honest here - I just love some items so much that I can't get past the urge to not order them every single visit. Because of this, I don't get to try too many other items. Their sweet corn chicken soup, fried corn curd and haka noodles are legendary. Portions are generous but not huge. The restaurant itself feels homely and comfortable - you can bring a guest or come with family or stop in for a working lunch. The atmosphere is informal - yet, the staff is attentive and will not let your glass of water run dry.
This is one of the best Chinese restaurants around South Mumbai. Prices are reasonable and portion served is enough for a couple. Taste is really good and one will get the authentic Chinese flavours in each and every dish. Do try the Fried Dim Sum platter and Hong Kong Chicken. The ambience is very warm and the restaurant looks like a Chinese temple garden on the inside with staircases and small wooden bridges to reach separate dining areas. Overall the restaurant is really good and highly recommended for anyone who loves Chinese food.
