Lehripura Gate - Historical landmark in Vadodara - Vadodara, India

This is historical gate and situated in west side of Vadodara. Well known Mangal Bazar is here. This area is too crowded.

Cool gate with some beautiful pre-Mughal stone carving. You can go up the stairs to the top for a nice view, though it's filled with trash and what appears to be homeless dwellings.

It is one of the history place of vadodara made by King (shree sayajirao gaekwad). Also we can see 'Nyay mandir' besides of that . And the huge pond name sursagar lake which is beauty of vadodara located exactly opposite site.

Parking problem all over and still heavy traffic congestion after Diwali. This city is good and places too are good but people have become insensitive to their social duties. I think that is the big issue we are facing all over the country.

Wow! Didn't know Baroda was this historical. Nice place. The main market of Baroda is located here. Even a beautiful shiv Ji statue and a river is a minute walk from here.

This gate is situated just near the Mangal Bazar, and Laheripura police station .

Festival view was very nice and dj road shows was amazing in this area for ganesh aagman. full of crowd hold on flags thay all enjoying with song & dance

Lehripura Gate, built in 1558, served as the western gateway to the old city. A towering structure with beautiful arches, the Lehripura Gate now serves as a busy market place famous for traditional Gujarati and Marwari artifacts. The Gate has 3 arches with Images of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Durga on it. The central Arch has a chhatri and zarokha above where earlier Shehnai Artistes played in the Gaekwad reign. Mehmud Begda, the sultan of Gujarat died in 1511 AD and the sultanate passed to his son Khalil Khan, who assumed the name Muzaffar and constructed a fort to the East of ancient Vadpatraka which later evolved into Vadodara (Baroda). The Fort was known as Kila-e-Daulatabad and present day Laheripura Darwaja (Gate) is part of Western Rampants of the Fort.
