The Laxmi Vilas Palace -- the birthplace of Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj -- the work to restore the birthplace started several years ago. In the past year, the work of the museum is being carried out. The replicas of major events of Shahu Maharaj's life have been installed in the museum. It has a replica of a cart being pulled by an elephant, a replica of the Radhanagari dam, the coronation ceremony of Shahu Maharaj and rare photos and things he used.
This place is also known as chatrapati shahu Maharaj birthplace. It is near by D. Y. Patil college of engineering. Here you can see museum but it is in under process. But here you can see replica of Radha Nagari Dam. This place is good for kids as well as history love. This is one of the historical places in kolhapur also it is around 2-2.5km from chatrapati shahu Maharaj palace.
Couldn't see the interior of the palace as it's under renovation. However the exterior is quite good.
Very quite and beautiful place. Free entry. Beautiful gardens and trees . The Birth place of chtrptii shaahuu mhaaraaj is just a room with a big painting of maharaj. And it is really really quite. Great experience.
This Laxmi Vilas Palace location on google is closed since long time. Search New shahu palace kolhapur, will give you correct location. I spend hour on old location and it was closed. New place is very good shoud visit once. Very imformative.
