A lovely home stay near Bekal fort. The host - Mr. Rajeev is a helpful man. He shared key info about Theyyam's in and around Kasargod. The house and the room is clean ans comfortable. Amble parking space. Veey near to the high way - roads are under construction though.
While we haven't yet had the pleasure of a stay at Lakshmi Madhavam Homestay, we did have a great adventure with Rajeev, the owner of the homestay, during an outing arranged by ART-M. That day trip was honestly a highlight of life, overflowing with Kerala adventures that we could never have known about otherwise. Rajeev is part of ART-M, an organization promoting responsible and experiential tourism in Malabar. Their motto is 'explore the unexplored' and that is exactly what we did and it was thrilling. Our first stop was at a temple dedicated to turtles and surrounded by sacred groves, a fantastic place! We were already happy and enjoying the scenery and culture, but we became astounded by our next stop, at Greenhills Thonikadavu. This is a huge private property with untouched vistas that I could never have imagined before that moment. We were taken on a walk with the owner, who had us smelling and tasting all the natural Ayurvedic plants. He also showed us how to make hats and bags from various plants and bamboo. Totally fun! As we walked, we crossed streams, tried to enter a narrow cave but got too claustrophobic though it was exciting till then, saw waterfalls and then got to swim in the biggest one and experience the pounding of the water. Spectacular! We took a rest with blue tea and bananas and then it was time to move on to the next place though we could hardly bear to leave. But more phenomenal experience awaited. The next homestay was also a magnificent private property, a completely organic farm, bordering untouched forest. We were treated to a delicious organic lunch, with incomparable quality ingredients and phenomenal cooking skill, that makes my mouth water to remember! Then we all took a walk on the small forest path down to the river which half the year is dammed up for boating and other water activities, so we're going back! Again, we were heartbroken to leave but by now dusk was falling. We had a parting cup of tea and took pictures to remember an unbelievable day, packed full of new and incredible sights, warm and lovely hosts, great stories and information and a spontaneously arising big love of northern Kerala. We are already planning our return including a stay at Lakshmi Madhavam Homestay to experience rare and precious untouched nature and we look forward to being guided by Rajeev on further fabulous adventures!
Best host, best homestay. Highly recommend, go for it :) thank you Rajeevan for all, can't wait to come back
If you would ask me the definition of a homestay, i would say: go to Kakshmi Madhavam. It had all the ingredients of a pleasant stay: i got a warm welcome with a fresh coconut, got invited at the family's table for exquisite local meals, met the family, got tips and insights about the local life and rituals,... The accomodation was very clean and everything was there what was needed. They even helped me out with some practical things that only friends or family would do. Highly recommend this place!
This is the first time I have visited Kerala due to some work in the Central University Kerala. I travelled alone and stayed in Lakshmi Madhavam Homestay which is only 2.2 km from Central University Kerala. Rajeevan and his whole family are an amazing host. I had specific requirement regarding food. He has been kind enough to arrange for all the things as per my need to the extent that I was permitted to prepare the food as per my choice. I am indebted to his whole family for the same. I needed to reach university by 8:30 am so the arrangement of auto was made by him so that I could reach there in time. The homestay is perfect as stated by various visitors in their review and met my expectations, very safe and homely atmosphere, surrounded by flowers like anthorium, hibiscus, coconut trees, banana trees and various other trees. Rooms are very neat and clean, spacious, enriched by sunshine, over all a pleasant ambience. This place is wonderful to be with nature, enjoy the morning walks, pollution free zone, very near to Bekal Fort and Bekal beach. Rajeevan had been kind enough to guide me regarding the local specialities which I could take home. Thank you very much for this wonderful experience Rajeevan Sir.
Was out there as part of a visit to Central University. Stayed there with family consisting of my son aged 3 who was in need of a homely atmosphere. The property owner rajeevan and his family fas helping out to make our stay very comfortable by providing us homely food and was there throughout our stay helping us in all our needs.
Such a nice place to stay. Best place for vacation. Bit interior. During my visit, COVID-19 restrictions were present all over India. So the owner couldn't provide food for me. But still their hospitality is very pleasing. They offered morning tea. Restaurant options are a bit far. If you are looking for a vacation, you can book this without thinking further. Pros. Ambiance Neat and clean room Friendly owner, relatives Greenary Facilities The road is not very crowded so it is apt for morning jogging Service Cons. Outside restaurants are a bit far
Fantastic host, Rajiv, takes interest in guests and goes out of the way to help and facilitate. Great hospitality... Rajiv, also being the head of the north Kerala home stay and experience giving entrepreneurs, is well connected will all the operators in the region. So, he is able to easily facilitate your travel in Northern Kerala with apt advisory. The spacious bungalow in the large compound in the country side is a joy to be staying in. The greenary, the birds chirping, the drizzle adding to it... If you are looking for easy access to the market etc, this may not be a right place.... The rooms are on first floor, for an aged traveller it may be difficult to go up the stairs, especially with luggage for anyone etc. All in all a great experience. Surely recommend.
