Lakhha Top - Historical landmark in Deeg - Bharatpur, India

Lakha top was invented by Hindu emperor jat Raja Maharaja Surajmal.Its weight was 1 lakh kg, hence it was named Lakha Top. It was the biggest top of that time to hit 300 km.The most famous story of Lakha Top is that in 1761, Mahendra Singh's army attacked the Agra Fort, located 300 kilometers away And with the help of 50-60 kg stones from Lakha Top, the Mughal army was forced to retreat.

Besides its glorious past and historical relevance, this toptourist attraction of Rajasthan boasts of being an architectural marvel as well. Out of all the towers of the fort, Lakha Burj is a whooping 70 feet tall tower and is considered to be the largest one. In fact, this tower situated at the north - west corner of the Deeg fort offers one to see multiple mesmerising panoramic views of the entire town. Other than that, the central tower of the fort is also worth mentioning as it is strategically positioned at an elevated height and has a shallow canal surrounding it. With the beautiful Roop Sagar flowing on one side of the fort and the mighty Gobind Sagar flowing on the other side, both of these water bodies ensure that the temperature of the fort remains pleasant and not too high. Decked up with as many as 900 fountains that were supplied water from the two big water tanks - Rup Sagar and Gopal Sagar which were flanked on the either side of the place, the fort actually possesses spellbinding beauty. As you go up the fort, one the roof you can see a cannon which is not ordinary but an ancient one. It is believed that this cannon must have been used in times of war during the rule of the Jat dynasty.

It is the highest point in the city from where you have the best view of the whole city. You can feel the nature and wind on it. There is a canon as well which is said to be one the largest and powerful canon of that time.

Dig fort Walking around Bharatpur is incomplete until the Deg Fort is seen. King Surajmal built this fort on some heights. The main attraction of the fort is the Watch Tower, from where not only can the whole palace be seen, but also the city's view can be taken down. A gun was placed on it, which was brought here from Agra Fort. Only the remnants of this fort can be seen in the surroundings of the ditch, high walls and doors.

This this the only thing that makes your trip to deeg fort worth memorising later otherwise there's nothing much left to see at the site coz everything is almost destroyed due to lack of mantainance. But wholesome your visit to deeg palace and lakkha top will be good.
